I might not have best in slot but w/e. I'm nearly capped everywhere exept for negative chaos.

What happens if you swap places with Heavy Strike and Ground Slam, and Melee Physical Damage with Added Fire Damage. Does that give you slight DPS boost at least?

@TazHusaberg: you should really take those endurance charges. It's really OP to boost your defense. Just so you can imagine, I run in maps 67-68 on average and even did a 70 one with 2500 armor only. But I have 6 endurance charges running all the time.
If you don't have spare points, you can refund one 15% lightning and cold resistance nodes to to take the 2 charges you skipped.

And one easy way to build them is to have Endurance charge on melee stun linked to either ground slam (my choice) or heavy strike. Or you can just launch enduring cry at the start of each encounter, or you can link it with Cast When Damage Taken.

alrighty then. im newb and ive been following something like the build in the original post. i just hit 70 and wanted to get some feedback about ways to improve my current/theorized future tree and suggestions about my gear. i helped oak all three times w/ the bandits...

i was thinking of taking versatility since i am right there and i am running temporal chains on my CwDT as well as Faster Attack gems. thats +20 dex +20 int for 1 point since ive already went to butchery. after i complete the scion life circle and move up to amplify im not really sure exactly what to do.

is enduring cry and the charges really that big of a boon? at this point i have yet to use enduring cry and havent really had any armour related problems. i also havent really done too many maps though so maybe thats why i havent needed it.


there is a lot of wonderful information going on in this thread and i have definitely learned a lot from following this guide and the basic skeleton of the build. so thank you ninja and the rest of the community.

oh yeah. my dps tooltip for HS is 5416.8. for GS its 2782.2. my life is 3072. my armour is 2933. my evasion is 425 and my resistances are fire 70%(70%) lighting 53%(53%) ice 71%(71%) chaos -60%
Versatility is a good node indeed, but I'm not very fond of your move to Butchery in fact. It cost you 5 points to go to 30% damage and 4% attack speed. With these 5 points you could as well take the life and the 2 starting damage nodes in the duelist area for 20% life, 1% regen, 27% damage and 12 life. I think this is better because your life is quite low.
I also think "Life regeneration per endurance charge" is quite great. I prefer it over "Endurance charge duration".

Regarding your current and future tree, I think you skip too much armor nodes (~100% armor skipped). You may run into mitigation problems later if you continue this way.

And yes, as I say just above the enduring charges are really a great defensive tool. Because of them and my low armor, I prefer to run "Endurance charge en melee stun" rather than "Added fire damage" on my ground slam. That's a sensible loss of dps but it's much safer.

Now I can tell you that I am not an expert on this build but I will give you my comment anyway.

First of all you have virtually no life in your gear. Life is the mitigation for this build. If you noticed in the OP the gear selection life is number one, then resistances are number two. So that is one reason why you are having problems with being squishy.

Now as far as skills, IMO Sweep might be fine while you are still in Normal but when you are in Cruel Ground Slam should be your goto AoE skill. So I might be looking for a different skill gem to use instead of sweep unless you are wanting to level it up then you could put it in the weapon swap to level it up.

Looking at your tree you take Elemental Adaptation when you should wait till later on to take it. Also you are missing endurance charges that could help out a lot. Endurance charges add extra damage reduction and elemental resistances. Also you are taking Skull Cracking which gives you damage, armor and extra stun. Instead of taking Smashing Blows, which give you +%life, +attack speed and +damage. The latter is better because early on life is more important than armor.

My question is if you are following this build to the letter then why not make your tree look like the OP's tree in the OP? Use the section titled bottom right.
Just found in ZiggyD's guide a really great idea which is to link Endurance charge to melee stun with Leap slam. It works great and my GS damage is no more compromised :). This could be added in 1st page in the support gems section for Leap slam.

First want to say thanks for the guide, i am new player to POE and made my marauder according to this build
The guide rocks and its exactly what i was looking for.

Everything was ok until dominus merciless where i felt that my build sucks or gear sucks

Played some maps and make some chaos.

I have some decent gear if you have in mind that i play the game just a few days



Here my problems:

1. I dont feel at any way immortal like the guide says

2. I am lvl 74 and need 3 more nodes to complete the tree according to the guide. How was supposed to finish it at 70?

3. Where i can found those various end game options you talk about?

There are a lot of improvements you can make. For startes link us your passive tree and tell us level-resistances-physical dmg reduction from armor and give us an estimate of how much you currency you can afford to spend. The immediate changes I would do in your position are:

1. Stop using the unique helmet and belt and find fitting rare gear. Mandatory stats Life, resistances and armor. THe more the better. Other useful rolls are a bonus.

2. The 2L on the mace is useless. If intend to use the weapon for a long time turn it into 4L. Spam jewellers on it till it gets to 5sockets and then fusings till its 4L. Then use that 4L for a low level CwdT (lvl1 CwdT-lvl5 Enduring-lvl5 Enfeeble-lvl7 Molten) or a Immortal Call 4L to help against tough situations like reflect or hard hitting physical dmg bosses (high lvl Immortal-Increased Duration-Enfeeble/Decoy). The low level CwdT is core, do it asap. If you intend to replace the weapon soon use the 2L for Leap Slam, it's mostly used for positioning anyway.

3. Replace Amulet. Go for Carnage Heart.

Using a similar build, level 77. not by the guide but there aren't that many ways to build a GS character after all.

Skill Tree:


Generating endurance charges by (basically all 3 possible ways):
- Ground slam + multistrike + life leech + melee physical damage + endurance charge on melee stun.
- Cast when damage taken (1) + enduring cry (5) + molten shell (7) + warlord's mark (5)

That keeps me on 7 charges most of the time, the charges are consumed by:
- cast when damage taken (17) + increased duration (15) + decoy totem (17) + immortal call (17)


Gear:

Will change the rings to Andvarius and drop Iron Reflexes.
Also got a 5L Marohi - in use by a friend at the moment.
May buy Kongor's Undying Rage with the nice +(15 to 20)% to all Elemental Resistances that works well with the -40% from dual Andvarius - in that case, resolute technique may also be dropped.
