PoE is a hardcore game. it's not a surprise people who are into TL2 / D3 type of ARPG would try out this game and decide PoE is not for them.

and yes, niche market is economically viable.

Explain what is hardcore, other than RNG which is NOT hardcore at all. Want me to create a RNG from 1-100 and the aim is to hit 88? That would be so hardcore right just clicking until you hit the magic number.

Ironically, PoE isn't hardcore if you play it like GGG intends - by faceroll partying and shortcut trading.

But it is quite difficult if you play it self-found solo - a gameplay style GGG doesn't endorse very much :)

You are surprised by a drop in player count several months after release?

Really?

Race Season ended.
People realized the 4 month Ladder Standings were/are out of reach.
People got bored and left.

Path of Exile is doing fantastic.

I loved the first 3 Halo games. Didn't really like Reach and really can't stand 4... almost nothing of what I used to like about Halo still exists in that game.

And I think it's a helpful comparison for PoE. Halo 4 dropped over 75% of its initial population in 3 months. Think about that for a minute before you declare a slight decrease in population - on steam only - as "unhealthy".
