How I plan to use Vaal Orbs

The real question is what happens to a palace map when you vaal orb it and it rolls the +1 to map level.

Lowbie/Leveling/Mediocre Uniques. Maps. Level 20 Gems. Mid-tier Gear. Or obscenely rich people trying to Corrupt Mirror-Tier Gear hoping for op Implicits.
Tons of possibilities. Especially on Uniques, getting interesting new Implicits really opens up the possibility of some previously not-amazing Uniques, to now be amazing if it gets the right Implicit. Not to mention how Vaal Orbs would affect Mapping for mid-tier and max level Maps. Vaal Orbs will be highly sought after. :P EA IGN: We_Have_Monk_at_Home

Finally another one who has the common sense to see that vaal orbs are nothing exciting.

I think a good time to use them on gear would be when you find a slight upgrade at level 60-70ish. If you have 2 similar boots that are 4 linked with the colors you want... you could vaal orb the one you don't plan to wear and see if it gains a mod that makes it worth using or worth selling. Or you could vaal the one you consider the upgrade, and if it gets ruined, you still have your other piece which you can use until you find another upgrade.
I think the fact that most people won't want to gamble good gear, if you are willing to gamble and get some of the more popular implicit mods (ele life leech) or white sockets, you could make a nice profit. I don't even want to imagine how much a 5L or 6L Corrupted Searing Touch with Fire Leech or +2 to Vaal Gems (use it with Vaal Fireball) would be worth on Ambush/Invasion... o_0
Or a Level 4 Corrupted Empower... Such high risk. Many high reward. Wow. EA IGN: We_Have_Monk_at_Home

Level 4 corrupted empower will easily be most expensive gem in the game. More than most gear I'd imagine.
