How I plan to use Vaal Orbs

Taking a mirror worthy item and vaal orbing it = shooting yourself in the foot

Once corrupted it cannot be mirrored.

I don't see why people think that they should apply these to rares... it seemed to me like they just randomize what ever item you apply it to without regard to previous rarity.

The risk of the Vaal Orb giving a Chaos Orb-like reroll chance of happening is why I would only use them on maps, certain uniques, and skill gems. Maybe a few other niche things, but I would never, ever use them on items I have on my characters like:



It would be nice to TRY for some goodies on them, but that random chance is too great for me to risk them. Granted, I know GGG said that they want these orbs to primarily be used on medium-tier gear, or less than optimal gear, but even then I don't think I'd risk it on those pieces. If it was just the item getting corrupted and then you can no longer do anything to it, even change colors around, then I'd be fine with that. When you include a chance for the RNG to reroll the stats completely and give you no recourse for that...well...nope. I think that alone is going to hurt Vaal Orbs in the long run, even though they have decent uses from the sound of it, but I don't know if the temptation and risk vs. reward will be enough.

You guys dont see the point.

Someone who has 10 perfectly rolled items of the same base type, the type who has 1,000 of eternals and exalts and some mirrors on top, can use 10 vaal orbs on those and create the really perfect item. Great currency sink in my opinion, as all of the troll rolls become garbage. No one will pay close to the price they had before being corrupted.

you're forgetting he said the random reroll is strongly biased to give better rolls... at least that's how I interpreted it. Instead of 1000 exalts to get that perfectly rolled harbinger you may only need 500 vaal orbs (with 500 rares of the base item type)

None of those items are best in the game... You have to assume at one point you will find an upgrade. Let's say the Horror Paw for example.

When you do find an upgrade, you can choose to gamble by using the vaal orb on the Horror Paw to make them significantly more valuable.
