POE - One Year Later
Well thought out and organized feedback. GGG needs more folks with this constructive approach. Thank you for taking the time to do this!

" I wonder how GGG would react if we made a PoE themed MUD. The passive skilltree and its management would be a bitch to implement sanely, but it might make for a fun project! The more you depend on forces outside yourself, the more you are dominated by them.

" To keep on topic, this will be my last response on this but this is a subject near and dear to me so I want to take the time to put it to rest. First off, please don't take this as an attack -- I truly have the best of intentions with this post. Bullying, and more recently, cyber-bullying are the result of an individual with some level of insecurity that compensates by tearing someone else down -- the most likely target being someone who somehow exudes a weakness or the trait associated with the insecurity. Your response, though simple, was malicious and made assumptions about me that are quite simply wrong. Why? Well, that is only for you to answer. Simpleton comments are actually quite common with bullies as well. Reason is well, simple: simplistic statements do not require much foundation and thus, require little to no security or foundation by the attacker on the subject. A very simplistic example: Bully: "Hey Fatty" That's obvious and simple. No one would question whether that was a bullying tactic. The less obvious is the dismissive comments -- particularly on the internet. They carry no purpose, and can seem benign to the person doing it but it is also a form of bullying. At the risk of validating your comment on bragging though, I will respond to that accusation. At the root, bragging is a sense of pride that is over the top; basically just amplified pride. I do not believe that to be the case. My badge for support is shown with pride, specifically because I am proud of being a small part of this game (even at the most minor levels). I do believe my support has gone towards helping this game to become what it is over the last year, even if it only funded a couple thousand lines of code...maybe parts of that code made Zana :) The reason why I called it out as the least I could do, was primarily because of the amount of time I've spent on this game in the past 12 months. It has nothing to do with me caring about my 'status' against a bunch of internet strangers in terms of financial well being. Hell, it could simply mean that I'm financially irresponsible....it doesn't matter. There was actually one part in my 2nd round of feedback (still pending) that specifically focused on this subject. The cliff notes version being that there are a ton of support types being provided by the playerbase to GGG -- yet only the support packs are annotated. I believe there are other support provided (including financial) that deserve recognition. A few examples: -Player who sits in support sections helping customers -A player who bought a ton of MTX but never a support pack -Someone who hits certain post milestones (quantity and quality) -The ladder leaders (they support the game by being awesome and drawing crowds) -....etc. Each of these things could/should be recognized. How? Perhaps a "[Insert Thing Here] of the Year" type thing each year. GGG captures all purchases and finds a way to put a badge up for the player. Things like that. I'll be more precise in my posting. Anyway, long story short -- I don't believe your intent was to bully, but at the root of it: it was and is. I also most certainly was not intentionally bragging...and I wont apologize for being proud of my support and my minor piece in this games evolution. If my pride in that fact spills over into bragging, I do apologize for that. If there is one thing to take from this, self awareness is quite possibly one of the most valuable and underrated traits a person can have in my opinion. Sometimes the most simple things mean a lot. One example, then I'll put it to bed. I was walking through town looking at the holiday lights this past Sunday w/ my family. It was dark, and very cold -- sub 30. A man came up to me and asked if I had any change for some coffee. I stopped to think if I did, and he immediately took that as I was offended he would ask and quickly backtracked saying I'm very sorry to ask and walked away quickly after it was clear I only had credit cards. I was completely unaware of the vibe I had given him, possibly even elitist when that could not have been further from the truth. He walked away quickly, and once I got my senses about me and realized how off putting I was being... I ran after him and took him into the coffee shop for coffee and a conversation.
Side note
: the man was an air traffic controller and very well off. Then lost his job after 9/11 and never got back on his feet.
No hard feelings Dirk, seriously. Thanks for all the fish! Последняя редакция: Nubatron#4333. Время: 23 дек. 2014 г., 15:28:40

Great feedback and great formatting.
If there's one thing in particular that I saw, it's using map bosses to accentuate targeted farming. (For people unaware of the term, targeted farming is the concept that there should exist specific things to kill/challenges to beat in order to obtain specific things.) Currently, we only have Atziri raid boss drops and strongboxes (though which boxes you get are themselves random) that allow the player finer control over their drops than the "master loot table". Having map bosses drop from a specific, unique loot table would definitely give a lot more reason to kill them than to skip them. --- " Mmh. |

" I believe you are correct and tend to agree, that an Executive Summary (aka: TL/DR) is more effective -- bottom line up front. It just did not do justice to what I wanted to say unfortunately and felt like one of those 'Fix Desync Now!' type threads when I decomposed it -- and I didn't want to be that guy :) Worst case scenario, they don't read it or see it. But someone else might who agrees and in turn, takes a more internet appropriate approach. They say hindsight is 20/20...we'll see come December of 2015 when I write my "POE - Two Years Later" dissertation. Hah. Thanks for all the fish!

" Yeah, a loot table kind of thing, at least for bosses would be neat, like there was in D2. Might have been on some third party site though but it really helped a lot of people play that part of the game they wanted. Im afraid GGG wont do such a thing though as they already messed with the XP farming zones by adding new zone bosses and shuffling mobs around. :/ |
