Just saw the Suckwave Totems build...

We definitely need a better name for this build, because it looks fun and I don't want to tell people "I'm running dual suckwave totems".

Don't take this to mean anything about the balance of the build though.

We knew this would be an effective use of the gloves, and we talked about it's power level earlier today, but I don't think we've made any concrete decisions on if/how it needs to change.

Actually after Havoc began actually running the gloves i noticed he changed the stream name to vortex totems... i agree and im pretty sure Havoc thought the same after running it! \m/
There is a fine line between Consideration and Hesitation.
The former is Wisdom, the latter is Fear.
Vortex Totems is a good name.

What's wrong with a straightforward use of the word "suck" suddenly? Are young adults in the 21st century really that prudish?

Mainly it just implies the totems aren't very good.

I'm really not sure how you're getting an alternate meaning here.

It will never go away. It's just too good.
sucktotems is the name we all know will stay. is short, has a meaning and is catchy

no stuff like vortex etc will stick - mostly because it is harder to pronounce for non-natives

btw - nothing in 'sucktotems' implies the build is bad. in fact - if the build is bad - noone plays it and it has no name. if a build has a name - it is at least fun and/or viable

but name aside - i still believe it is 'tad' too strong of an interaction if left without drawback

For a proper alternate meaning, you'd have to call them BLoW Totems, but that makes even less sense (I mean, we have no claim to the build, so...)
Edit: I agree @sid: the term "suckwave" has been thoroughly embedded in my mind, and I perceive no negative connotation from it. Actually, I find it rather witty as the totems did suck for the longest while. Now it's sort of entendre, like "Primus sucks!" but also describing its mechanical behavior.

Since potential for rebalance has been mentioned, and one suggestion was reducing them to a chance to. . . I really want to implore you against this. Personal opinion, but I'd rather have a semi-broken totem build than have an interaction between chance to knock "forward" on top of chance to knock back, whereby mobs just kind of shuffle back and forth. That'd be... weird.. in not a very good way.

Grep Totems

(Will only make sense if you've played the old text-based MUDs.)
Suckwave Totem is now the official terminology.

I see. I wasn't sure either, that makes more sense. Well, I guess you'll just have to deal with it then, it's too fitting a wordplay to go away! :)
