Perandus chest guardians [updated]
Don't you think that you went a little bit over the roof with those? Excuse me for my wording, but sometimes the whole area where those monsters stand is a clusterfuck of explosions and various other effects. It becomes hard to distinguish what is what. Sometimes its fairly easy, sometimes its instant death, probably some balancing would be great.

I am slightly surprised that the game doesn't lag horribly or crash from the sheer amount of effects. Got killed (lemme have a look...) 23 times and I am lvl 63. Friend of mine way more often (and we aren't new Players). 22 kills were from these Chests / their Guards. I can't even pass them. They are chasing and attacking me... And the AoE... insane. They do a painfull Spectral Throw across 1/2 map lol... Way too overpowered imo. :c Bring down the dark regime, I know how to unleash eternal power.

My issue with them is risk vs. reward. Had a chest with a single guard that respawned over and over and basically did nothing that gave 25 coins. Had another chest in the same area containing a unique mob and 20 or so other white ones that killed all my minions the moment they came on screen, the chest gave 12 coins.

So 7 zombies, 10 skeletons, golem, totem and my own curses took out Malachai like he wasn't there. EZ mode. Same build, same damage and everything... completely pointless to next chest blocking my way. All minions died in seconds, I was butt naked with my little curse and no damage. Time to run forest, run ... new instance. And laggy as f*ck with screen shaking from the gazillion aoe effects. And I thought the talisman spawns were OP... yeah right. --- This entire league feels like somebody at GGG rushed content without properly testing with various classes and builds. Never give up, never surrender !

I agree with the topic starter 1000%. Wanted to create the same thread here.
It's INSANE. Especially the Unique chest guardians are WAY overpowered. They are so OP, that act bosses look small and weak in comparison. Once i had to fight about 4 of unique Perandus chest guards (some special chest), because it was a tunnel type instance and i couldn't bypass them. I lost count how many times i have wiped there (low level char, crap self found gear, while levelling). And when i finally killed them there was 1 rare item (vendor-tier) + 20 coins in the chest... And sometimes there a totem nearby that buffs these already insanely OP mobs even more. Sometimes they attack so fast that game crashes. Seriously GGG? Why can't it be like with the boxes - no mobs unless i open them? Even talisman was better that this... I understand that experienced players need challenge. Maybe it would have been better to move these insanely OP'd guardians to high level maps or something like that? Low level rares/magic items and a couple of coins aren't worth such pain anyway. " My first build this league was a minion build, since I was really excited about running triple golems. After seeing what these chests did to my minions in cruel, I switched to something else. Minions are an absolute joke in this league. Maybe it gets better at super high levels in very specific builds, but I hate having to level to 75 as one build, then switch to something else. I don't bother playing anything I can't level with. The massive amounts of lag around some of these boxes are also super frustrating. POE always gets blasted for its terrible performance. GGG's next step is to ramp effects up to 11 for a league? That makes no sense. Yes, 2000 Magma Orbs on screen slows me down to 1 FPS. No, this is not a surprise. How did enemies that use zillions of low damage skills super fast ever make it into the game? |

This video shows exactly why I quit hardcore for this league ... imagine being a Cycloner, spinning into these lightning-shooting guys, having your screen frozen and seeing that you died once your screen unfreezes - twice.

My comments are similar to the above posters, but I'd also add that the locations in which these Perandus chests spawn can be nightmarish. As an example, how about a chest spawning right next to the entrance to one of the arenas in The Grand Arena? You know, where you're already getting hit with lag as various effects, textures and whatnot are loading for use on your computer.
The effects lag alone from these chest guardians is just killing me. Literally, as far as my character is concerned. I'm glad I didn't even try the hardcore version. I'd be even more pissed than I already am. "People ask me why I do this at my age. People are rude."

" Man, how things change. I couldn't kick the addiction and reinstalled POE a week or so ago. I now have two different level 80+ tri-golem builds in HC Perandus (one from before I temporarily quit the league). With my current Champion, I even leveled as a different build until around 50 purely because of how much it sucks to level a summoner in Perandus league. What hasn't changed is that Perandus chests are still by far the biggest kick in the balls to a minion build. With my more traditional Necromancer summoner build, I was able to get my minions to stay alive by having tons of increased life and maxed resists from the tree and jewels, the two Clayshapers, and from the ascendancy class (100% spectre life). I also ran Evangelists as the spectres. I'm running a +30% effectiveness Enfeeble on Blasphemy as well. I still lose minions to chests occasionally with that build, but not too often. I stopped losing minions to anything except Perandus chests at around level 75, though. The Champion is an Animate Weapon build that only runs Flame Golems and Animate Guardian as permanent minions. It has SRS to get things started and to give me something to do when I'm just standing around. This one deals with Perandus boxes by having a massive swarm of weapons with Melee Splash. Everything just dies before it can wipe my team. If I don't have enough weapons when I hit a box, I normally lose everything except the Guardian super fast. 15000 life Flame Golems with max resists and Bone Offering and Enfeeble up die like they're nothing. You really do need to build specifically for Perandus chests. Each one of those is as dangerous to your minions as the scariest of bosses. I keep running double boss on maps like Terrace without any trouble. I can even take out most bosses easily with just my dookie 4-link SRS if I have to. If there's a Perandus pack near the map spawn and I haven't built up a huge swarm of weapons, though, I'm screwed. |

Same here, have no problem with chests without guardian, but those with guardian is just too much.
It's ok to have minion respawning, but not endless! |
