The timer actually starts as soon as you click the portal in Act 3 town and start loading the Plaza.

1. about how lab tim is counted:

"
1) The timer actually starts as soon as you click the portal in Act 3 town and start loading the Plaza.
2) The presence of secret passages in the Labyrinth is fixed per day. You can't reload "until you get one" because if it's there, it's always there, for everyone. If it isn't, it will never be there for anyone on that day.
3) Yes, it counts loading times. The time is the total time between opening the Plaza and killing Izaro at the end. To have it otherwise would be a complicated change. Not impossible, but complicated.

this is what GGG mod said on reddit.

I just can comprehend how this made into game? Are GGG developers sane? Why timer don't start at grace period end? Why it count loading time?

Could it not work in the same way the grace period affects players when they load into an area, just in reverse?

The timer pauses during a loading screen, then starts up again when you move and lose the grace period. You gain next to nothing from this pause, because there are no enemies in the opening rooms; you're just helping those with long load times be at an even keel.

This eliminates the timer running during the loading screen, and doesn't seem too difficult to implement (are you affected by the grace period? Stop the timer).

If it doesn't start after grace period i'll not even try to compete to be honest :P
For an Emperor to be just, an Emperor must be patient.
Yep, so much for lab racing for me. Get a better computer if you wanna compete. Kind of pay-to-win ;).

Anyways, it would be helpful if at least the final time would be displayed after a run. Or is that the case now?
Remove Horticrafting station storage limit.
1) That seems dumb, but if that's how they want to implement it I guess that's okay.

2) As it should be.

3) Seriously? Load times are counted? That's just utter BS.

Labyrinth races are just a joke at the moment. It's just a gear/build check. How that's fair/fun I have no idea.

Why is counting load times BS? Load times are counted in every race they've ever had. People with fast load times will always be able to get further in a race than people who take 30 seconds to load each area.

Counting loading time in normal races is also very bad. Especially in burst races.

loading times in races is counted as the race is from say 1-2 pm, so the longer you load, the less you play in that slot...

It's bad in races too, but the quick nature of lab runs just compounds it. Players with better PCs have an incredible advantage over those that don't have such computers. At least in races they're usually longer and players can even it out with drops/luck. Lab runs are just about who can load areas fastest and one-shot Izzy. It's honestly the worst 'competition' I've ever seen in PoE.
