Abaxoth, The End of All That Is - Why is this in game?

My completely unscientific sampling of Prophecy Act Boss drops:

I killed Merveil and the Vaal Construct solo and I got nothing but blue drops.
I don't know. I think Abaxoth showing up is hilarious. The fight is annoying, yes. BUT the "oh shit" moment and laughs I get of him popping up are awesome.

You think it's bad finding that asshole on a Beyond map where you expect crazy shit?

Wait till you get the Voidspawn version.

Casually clearing a map that's not beyond...and BOOM Abaxoth.

I dunno...he's annoying but it's funny as hell to me when it happens. It's like the constant reminder of Rory or Chris (can't remember which) saying that they "actually enjoy killing players" lol.

He's annoying but he's rare enough to where it's not obnoxious.

Today I ran into Abaxoth. I thought cool. New mob. Epic fight. This ended up being a complete waste of time. drops crap. Absolutely no risk vs reward. None.

It sounds like you had fun fighting him. Isn't that the point of a game? Shouldn't the loot it drops be secondary to that?

For the record, I think certain bosses could use a loot buff too.
We fight to delay the end because it's the means that matter.
The problem with loot division in PoE at it's core is the build complexity allowed within the game.

If certain bosses would drop exceptional good loot, or above the norm then people would shift towards the builds that can easily take them out.(this is a natural tendency of efficiency)

As a result, all bosses should have the same inherent potential when it comes to loot, putting them all on the same standard allows a lot of builds to compete.

Atziri and the "atziri viable" meta when it was released should serve as a good lesson for this.

she is one of the exceptions in the game and if you where around when she was released you would understand the impact of such an event :)

So yeah, bosses are more for the kicks of being able to beat them. And if they drop something sweet, kudo's, but consider it a bonus on top.

Peace,

Has GGG never heard of the Diablo II concept of the first-time-kill Boss drop?

how the fuck is voidspawn abaxoth hilarious? you must either enjoy dying or never engage in content that is even close to threatening :S

"uhhh yeee a bugged pack of two blue mobs spawned with voidspawn mod, both died before i managed to check their mod and abaxoth shat on me before i had a chance to do anything. bye bye 10% at lvl 96, i never needed you anyway~~!"
[s]only mindless sheep think labyrinth is OK to have in PoE.[/s]

Yup. Bosses drop terrible loot. There is absolutely no risk vs reward in this game. That is one of the equations they've never balanced out in many years.

What happens when something is fun and gives decent loot? Nerf.

Piety got nerfed for always dropping a TIER 1 map. Uber lab, nerfed.

Remember invasion and how hard the bosses were? Nobody seems to remember that they were not worth killing at all because the loot was always terrible.

I think Malachai drops the worst loot out of all the bosses and he is suppose to be the hardest story boss in the game. So, your reward for completing a difficulty is mostly magical gear and one or two rares if you're lucky. It's a joke.

If you don't like the game, why do you stick around the forums and bitch. Enjoy the game = play it. Don't enjoy the game = take a break, play something else.

There are usually more choices than the ones you offered. Life is rarely binary when it comes to decisions.

Why do you spend time here. You enjoy the game apparently and your role here is to call out people who "bitch"?
I guess i am silly, but aren't forums for exactly that? Offering opinions even though some would call them bitchy.
I wonder if you are qualified to separate the criticism from bitchyness. Or any other category of thought. What makes you so good at designating named bins for different opinions and ways of expression?

Maybe its the simplest explanation, White Knighting because you spent too much and now it has to mean something. Or maybe its not this, maybe something else.

Who knows...
Cheers.
btw
lab sucks

Guess not. They sure as hell dont want new players and players who make new builds and chars all the time to get a decent item on first boss kills.

If you get decent item from the first boss kill, you have nothing to look for anymore for a long while.
Abaxoth is here for fun.

Im glad they added at least beyond somehow to the core of game (randomly spawnable at maps), not just Zana mod, as almost everything else.

Pity invasion didn't make it.
