How often do you get that lucky drop?

Account created May 1, 2013... I've only ever gotten something noteworthy once. That was a Soul Taker back when they were stupid expensive. I had an MF character that I played pretty much no-lifer status. Never got anything (also didn't know about Chaos recipe at the time, so I could probably have gotten rich and didn't know it). Gave up on MF. Went out on my Barb and first Docks run, I got the Soul Taker.

I did MF runs on Dominus from the time I woke up until the time I went to bed for several months straight and never got anything worth more than a few Chaos. I got a mirrored dagger and Atziri's Acuity off of Chaos recipes basically.

The best "drops" typically come from poe.trade. You can't really play the game looking for big ticket drops.

Path of Exile's loot system is being run by trade players and it's highly likely connected to the system loot within the game and controlling it there.

So if the excess of poe.trade builds up, so lessens the loot system within the game.
This system is also periodic, and varies from week to week.

Path of Exile is also disengaging non-Hardcore players almost immediately. When you repeatedly walk up to a gigantic glowing gold cache (I've come across these things quite a few times) and nothing of anything drops out of it that hasn't dropped outside of it, GGG are going to get a lot less Casual and then a lot more of Hardcore players.
That's the only draw to Hardcore players - hard disappointment and then the sheer will to continue on.

That's what's going on here.

This has nothing to do with the quality of the game, but the expectation of what you're doing playing the game and you arrive at a positive or a negative.

How do I know this.
It seems pretty obvious to me up to this point in a single month of playing.

The bow I checked in POE.trade would have got more than 1 ex if I sold it at the day I found it. The mace has everything you need if you want to build a crit fire mage, it has a little bit less damage than a Doryani but more crit, cast speed and extra damage. I found this stuff during mapping, I packrat every yellow away to Zana.

So I think you can find usable stuff, for perfect stuff you'll have to trade.
