If true, the reason is obvious. Temple is repetitive gameplay. Even for the genre.
I don't dislike the league, far from it. But temple gets old fast. Not sure how they could have prevented this. Censored.

To the point; Bestiary had a measurably higher retention rate than Incursion (mindblowing info for softcore speedclearers and Redditors, I imagine). I do enjoy incursions for the risk and reward they offer in HC, but I don't imagine they'll keep me interested for longer than a month. Bestiary was a deeper, much more involved league and it shows in the charts. It was quite flawed, of course, but it gave you interesting goals to aim for and the menagerie was a very welcome change of pace from the otherwise frantic grinding of maps to keep up with the economy. Bestiary was also much more new player-friendly than Incursion; you could take your time capturing beasts, unlocking recipes and crafting cool stuff to help you with levelling. In contrast, what does a new player do in Incursion? Meet Alva, step in, kill one pack before the timer ends (because they're likely not playing the hot meta builds which is what Incursion was designed for), get spat out and loot three wisdom scrolls. Amazing. That's not to say the rewards later on aren't very generous, but Incursion sucks ass for new players who probably quit before they see any real rewards. Bestiary had clear rewards and also clear goals: get the endgame recipes and kill the portal bosses. What's a new player's goal in Incursion after they've killed the flying saucer boss? Do it again? And this is something that the veterans who see PoE through their echo chamber don't seem to care about and, oddly, it's not something the devs seem to care about either. How does the new content attract new players? ARPGs attract very different audiences. Bestiary offered a unique niche for people who don't obsess over efficiency and the market. By contrast, Incursion is complete, 100% pandering to speedclearers. Your rewards are completely dependent on how fast you can clear and how optimized and meta your build is. My final opinion is that Bestiary was mechanically flawed but conceptually great; Incursion is mechanically great but conceptually flawed. Veterans will cheer when Alva is made permanent, but the reality is it won't change the core game in any way. It will be just another side gimmick you can do, like Abyss. Bestiary being made permanent would've opened up the game to an entirely new audience. Your opinions on how amazing and wonderful the temple is are completely irrelevant; most players use Steam and less of them are playing Incursion than Bestiary. Последняя редакция: ChefoSLR#7948. On-Topic I quit bestiary within the first day (quit before dominus) incursion lasted me 2 days (got to maps, promptly said fuck this shit). I like the idea of incursion, like I liked the idea of bestiary but both were objectively shit, I'd say incursion is pretty close to bestiary only slightly worse, and definitely both were worse than even garbinger.
