Tired of being Broke ! ! !

I know how you feel. I started in Harbinger and was piss poor the entire league but I kept learning and playing to better understand the game and in Abyss I was fine. I had enough currency to basically do or buy whatever I wanted. Im not talking about mirrors or anything but somewhere around 30 or 40 ex which is more than enough to fund a couple builds to complete the atlas, kill Shaper, red Elders, Uber lab etc.

The chaos recipe helps a ton in the beginning of a league. Learning what items (mainly rares but some uniques also) are valuable so you can flip a few items when those opportunities present themselves. Also if you play the game and the right content some bigger ticket items will drop. Don’t count on “life changing money” but certainly items that will give your wealth a boost.

Here's a good bit of advice that hasn't come up yet: Quit buying stuff you don't need, or wasting currency on items that aren't worth upgrading.

2) Check poe.trade and open few tabs with currency you are interested and write down on paper at what time during the day what prices are. Weekends has different dynamics than normal working day.
3) Than in poe.trade make offer that somebody brings you xxx orbs and you pay ex/chaos. Once you make deal, you sell xxx orbs minus your profit for ex/chaos. Repeat, and learn what currency is going fine and when.

5) Check most played builds, trade items.
6) Usually with reworked gems - leveling them and vaal - another few ex.

8) search for perfect or nearly perfect items and resell - another few ex easily, but this currency can be hold by item even two weeks.
9) Collect cards, resell cards..
10) Noticeboards are a bit crap now as there is not one main noticeboard (I tough last one will be in Oriath square, but its garbage place) but still there are players who use only them, or only poe.trade, or only trade/offerings channels..
11) If you are crazy enough, you can learn all prefixes and once you see on yellow items few T1, than you earn a lot, nevertheless thats most long path to take, but most profitable.
12) Try to get to players who are farming a lot and buy all stuff from them at once, its fairly amazing how many players will be happy to give you discounts as they will not have to do many trades.
13) With a bit luck, you will make customers from people who are providing services and from that moment you are rich.
14) Always search for opportunities - be patient and do not panic if you think you loose money, only reason you are going to earn is that most of players are selfish greedy gambler addicts :) and wants everything now (including challenges). You can even use flattery, that works like a charm for many as well.


All players (except friend) consider as customers and speak with them what they play and what is hardest stuff to get for them. Focus on it and make a fortune. Information is the key.

Make fast labyrinth runner, preferably as a league starter. Such char should be tanky, with brass dome if possible and as much fast as possible. My brass dome based juggernaut has +75 speed modifier without flasks. He is able to make full keys and full shrines run within 10-20 minutes (depending on layout). Minimum investment return (I have to buy offerings) is 10 c. So if I'm extremely unlucky with enchantments, I can earn minimum 100 c in 10 runs. Let's assume there is shittiest possible layout and shittiest possible enchantments. It is 100 c in 3.3 hours still.

I find the hardest part of the economy is just figuring out what stuff is worth.


It's taken me a very long time to understand stats on gear and an even longer time to evaluate the accumulative worth of those stats.

I had been playing for around 2,000 hours before actually selling anything. I think I sold maybe 3 items prior to this, spanning 3 years. But just recently, with my better understanding of items/stats, I went through my stash and started selling lots of stuff. In fact I had made 12 ex in the first week.

It certainly helped that I had many tabs full of stuff from all those hours spent in the dark.

Knowing the value of items is half the battle, the other half is finding them. GL :)

Easiest way to make currency is to just do maps. Then more maps. Repeat as necessary.

Sure there are a lot of uniques that are trash. However I see a LOT of people selling unique items with good rolls for waaaay too cheap. I mean some uniques sell for 1c with bad rolls and go up to 40-50chaos with top rolls. people just trust the poe trade search or the trade macro search and either sell it to someone that resell it for a lot more or they just assume the item is worthless and sell it to vendor.

Early you can make some chaos from chaos recipe if you have issues selling/evaluating items.

Another mistake a lot of people do is selling rare items with open crafting slots for way too little. In fact there are people searching for such items only to craft on them and resell for 10x the price. Also people tend to run bad filters that show waaaay too many bad bases and that makes the job much much harder spotting the sellable item.

Final advice. Play a LOT of different builds. Learn what key items they use/look for. This knowledge makes you able to quickly recognize sellable items while speedfarming maps.

In fact, mapping is... the worst possible way to make currency, unless somebody repeats Burial Chambers few thousand times. In every other cases doing maps is just the easiest way to lose all maps without acquiring any reasonable currency :)

What are you talking about...Alch and go maps are easy way. If you don't want to be bothered with trading and such just do that and you will be fine. 6s drops add to a lot, you can always swap them for chaos and ex or use on your own items. You don't need to run BC, false statement.
