Can We Get Rid of Death XP Penalties Already? Games Are Supposed to be Fun

I feel like at this point this topic has become a meme and people make it to gain attention. Nothing wrong with that but it does get boring eventually.

Everyone is somehow a glass cannon, that´s how POE works. This isn´t Diablo where you can make a tanky char and just survive a big hit. Once your hit, your dead.

I played several characters, with huge amounts of block, armor, evasion and always max res. It simply put does not matter one bit. If you get hit your dead.

It´s also wrong when you say that these final 10 pojnts are useless. They are in fact not. They allow you to have more life, more damage or be an alternative for resistances on gear.


My 92 summoner would be a lot stronger if I had those 8 points. If levels would be meaningless, then we would surely have a level 90 at depth 1000 or so.


In my opinion the xp gain is broken after 90. If they would fix that and revert it to the old days when level 100 was doable, then we wouldn´t have this discussion at all. GGG did nerf XP gain by a lot, so that the streamers would stream longer.

Certainly not irrelevant when we are also talking about nearly 3 TIMES as much time and effort to get from 90-100 as it does 1-90..... And that's Without Dying... Deaths at 95+ are hours if not entire days of playtime in the 98-99 range.. Irrelevant?... Thats why most of us sane people just say fuck it around 90-95 because at those points in the build you have 20/20 gems, geared out to the point your paying piles of exalts for 3-5% if your lucky upgrades, and shit all over ALL the content the game has to offer and have probably at that point if you made your build at least half ass decent been doing so since well before lvl 90... About the ONLY reasonable reason to put yourself through those last 5-10 levels is for extreme min/maxing which if your to that point those last couple levels even matter at all your also to the point your dumping exorbitant amounts of currency into the build as well which in turn makes the Death Penalty Irrelevant because you dont die anymore.. at least on proper builds.. And if your STILL fucking dying when your to the point your dumping 20-30+ exalts PER upgrade? Yeah check your shit your doing something horribly wrong and no removal of anything is gonna fix that shit..

Without an Exp Penalty people will STILL fucking bitch that 100 is too much...
Thats because its not the Penalty that's barring them from 100 in the first place... You STILL have to play a certain way at 95+ which if your not doing with the exp penalty isn't gonna make much difference if your not considering this factor without it either... Its a fucking insane mapping and time sink from hell where your litteraly pounding out thousands of fucking maps back to back picking up less and less shit as you go just to even see the bar move >1%.. And this is only at level 95... It only worsens from there every single level.. Penalty or not most people are still not gonna put their self through all that shit for the very VERY fucking little you are to gain from that time.. thats why people just dump tons of exalts into their builds instead and never level much past 95.. Its completely pointless for what you get out of that time invested.. With or Without said Penalty.. simple as that..

I just wanted to get to max level, but i also wanted to do it while having fun. rofl, also i never play glass cannons......

If you refer to 2016 as the old days, I gladly invite you to poe 2014 where getting lvl 100 was only for the chosen few.
Lvl 85 was end game back then.
Compared to the game it was, poe has become a serious walk in the park.

*Desync killed half of the players daily.
*Level 76maps were highest iirc.
*Half the bosses just 1shot you.
*Xp penalty was 15%
*Now most uniques are god tier with life on them and no trade of.
*elemental/physical reflect got you killed daily, from 3screens away or so.
*the good uniques were unaffordable.
*exile encounter was usually -15%
*inferior skilltree.
*no ascendancy to make you a walking demi god.
*trading was done via trade chat, meaning almost same play as SSF nowadays because you could not find the gear needed.
*Mapchaining back then was usually done at levels 72-74 with boss skipping to avoid death. Joining lvl 75 map cost 2c and those where rarely shown on msg board.

Look, I'm not blaming you for not having played back then, but this game has never been easier than these days.
GGG NEVER intended to have casual players to get lvl 100.
