Trade bots: allowed?

wow... this thread looks more and more interesting...

now we are seeing keywords like "spread", "buy rate", "sell rate", "exchange"?

are we playing Path of Exile or are we playing Path of NYSE here???

or maybe GGG should introduce Options Trading and Futures Contracts into POE???

How come none of you has been probated already? Discussing ggg mod/gm activity should result in probation.

Oh, wait! You're all bots! /s

Nothing you said contradicts what I said. If anything, you're just elaborating on the result OF an implicit honour system that, as I sort of pointed out, FAILED FUCKING MISERABLY. So thanks for that. I'm going to assume that English isn't your first language and that maybe you missed what I was actually saying and just fixated on an absolute.

Implicit means 'unspoken'. And by that token, it can also often mean something a lot of people don't actually do. Especially, well, bots. Since unlike me and I presume you, bots aren't very good at following unspoken rules. :P

I assume you are some kind of betatester or person with some closer relation to GGG. If so, meybe suggest them to apply some kind of currency AH or some "fixed" rate of all type of currency. Like 1 exalted orb for 100 c from town vendor, or 1 c for... lets say 3 fusings (and 10c for 30 fusings) along with possibility of aquiring other kinds of currency from vendors, like silver coins or even mirrors.

Such move would help people, who actually uses exalted or chaos orbs for crafting. Trading or farming bots will still be there, with "better rates" or farming for RMT shops (so noones business will be harmed here :P), but players will have some alternative at least. Now there is no alternative at all - you want some bigger amount of currency, you go to trade bot. No other choice for SSF-ers, prophecy farmers or even advanced crafters. Same issue with maps. Zana should sell them all, even for higher price, like she do now, but not limited amount and kind.

POE is a game, but it has its own economy. so why should it be wrong to use the economic wording to describe some stuff?

Players need different Ressources at different times. I earned currency by helping those players out. I did this in stead of killing Monsters, so why shouldn't there a reward?

The big problem for me isn't the currency exchange/trading/flipping (or how ever you want to call it), its the trading bots that make this market unattractive for normal players.

Don't give me nonsense about a lack of resources. Go spout some forbidden words in chat, within 5 minutes a GM will mute you because someone reported you. They have plenty of time and the bots are easy to spot, moreso after a report.

Trade bots are far worse than farming bots. Trade bots print money at an alarming rate, if you wait in a bot's hideout for 5 minutes you'll see tens of players come and go. Their earnings increase exponentially the bigger their currency stockpile grows. Hell, they can probably buy multiple headhunters per day. The bot I saw with 1500 harbinger orbs.. that's 100 exalts worth of just a single rare currency. He has over 12000 chaos! 1 month into the league!

If GGG doesn't take action then I might as well run one myself. As a casual player it would be fun to finally have all the currency I need to max out all my builds and actually play the game without hundreds of hours of braindead farming!

Investigating a bot is way more hard than looking at a chat log and seeing someone used inappropriate slurs or whatever. Mainly because they mimick legit trading behavior. Many players flip tones of currency and items.

Why couldn't they just devise a mini turing test and slap it on a hot key. The bot programs are not that sophisticated. I am sure an engineer could come up with a simple but effective algorithm that could sus out a bot very quickly.

"You have been reported as a bot, jump three times and go interact with anything in this hideout without legs" Maybe stupid I know, but wouldn't take hardly any time to check. Create a jail instance, teleport bot into it, and have a plaque on the wall with instructions on how to appeal.

Or just ignore it, easier that way.

Actually the bots compete with another and keep currency margins low. All profit.
I'm not a botter but i dont mind trading with bots cause theyre fast and uncomplivcated. Thats why i would like to have an ah too.

it really hurts reading that here, people openly appreciating botters.

"all profit", how do i profit from playing the game the regular way if botters make a mirror per day?

sometimes viruses and trojans, after infecting your pc, clean it from other malware to be able to act undisturbed. in your words it's desirable to get your pc infected.

No but they can't do anything abbout it. Blizz who's way more rich, more staffed, charge 60 bucks for game, and more experienced couldnt do anything...well except pull the plug on trade finally.

Blizz didn't leverage anything to try and fix the problem though until they found some purps big enough to sue.

Like the idea that blizz couldn't fix this problem therefore X can't is idiotic blizz did exactly the same as every other online gaming company - try to script bans because its the cheapest option by far.

Also stop defending people who trade current that aren't bots but don't respond, if you put shit in your trash to trade then you don't actually trade it you are directly encouraging bots because they actually trade what you can't be bothered to. If you don't want to take the time to sell it just don't sell it.

about this there is sometimes another problem, related to the trade pages: the refresh rate.
I've sold some currency some days ago, and even 2 hours after i've sold all of them and disabled the offer, I still got whispered.
Usually I try to respond with a "out of stock, sry" or someting like that, but its very annoying if you have to write this to 50 or more ppl. Enabling DND also often isn't an option, because even if im out of jewellers for example, I still want to get other trade requests.
You say Prison Cell, I hear 'Holiday'.
Oh absolutely got no problem at all with people suffering from the trade API thats a seperate problem really but like the last time I was buying fuses I ended up at the person 3rd from the bottom on PoE trade, some of the better deals near the top will be sold out but the ones further down just aren't trading.

GGG does care but they are likely limited on resources to investigate every single report.

What usually happens is a massive ban wave rather than incremental smaller bans.

if they would REALY play their game (1000h test team...hahahahahha!!!) , they would easily find a huge bunch of bots...every day...
