question about elemental army support gem

Culling not working on phased bosses is a real showstopper alrite. Makes it kinda useless since everything else is melted in no time anyway.

One thing that I don't think was not covered in this thread and is ... kind of confusing.

The gem says :

Minions from Supported Skills inflict Exposure on Hit, applying -10% to the Elemental Resistance matching highest Damage type taken by Enemy

Now, let's say that I have a stone golem, and a jewel to add ... let's go with 2-4 lightning damage to its attacks.

Technically, the highest damage type taken from a hit from this golem will be physical, and physical cannot apply exposure, that's how I would understand the current wording, no elemental resistance can "match" physical damage.

But as shown in this thread, the wording is far from perfect and it's very possible that it isn't actually working that way, so ...


Does anybody know, if "highest Damage type" only considers elemental damage or not ?


( For a bit of context, I am planning to have stone + chaos + ice + flame golem in a build, for specific reasons, am dealing all 3 elemental damage type and am wondering if linking 3 of the 4 golems to elemental army could be useful, else it would be only two of them maybe ).

It's all about elemental damage, physical damage is discarded in the calculation.

Since elemental army is a support gem it only works with the skill gem it is linked to.

The debuff it creates however (fire/cold/lightning exposure) should affect anyone attacking the debuffed target.

It's not that great as it only lowers uncapped resistances (to my understanding) compared to penetration which lowers capped resistances.
