question about elemental army support gem
" so for example my lightning golem hits enemy, now enemy has lightning exposure, and my arc spell will deal more damage to that target? but if flame golem hits enemy with fire damage, target now has exposure to fire damage and my arc spell will not deal increased damage to that target? just to be clear :D im pretty sure at this point I wont use elemental army anyway, but just want to clear it up lol! |

I believe that each element is a separate instance of exposure and you could have two or three active at one time. It's not like EE where every hit by elemental damage resets it to the new element. So your Arc will still benefit from lightning exposure for the full duration, even after your flame golem applies fire exposure. It's just multiple exposures of the same element that do not stack.

" I haven’t tested it, but that too is my understanding. |

hmmm well in that case guys then the gem is once again interesting, as -10% to enemy lightning resistance is a pretty decent dps boost on my character, considering I have a lot of lightning penetration already, around 75% in total, if I manually enter -10% in the pob config to enemy lightning resistance would that be a correct way to calculate this gems dps boost if a target has lightning exposure on them?
since elemental army support gem does not enable "exposure" option in pob config like wave of exposure gem does for example, also if I understood you guys right there can be multiple elemental exposure on a target at one time, lightning/fire/cold can all be active exposures, so as long as my lightning golem has hit an enemy at least one time, it will apply lightning exposure to this enemy and then my arc will get the -10% lightning resistance dps boost, this again makes the gem very worth considering instead of minion life/minion speed as the sixth link for me, since on a single target where dps matters (map clear does not matter as everything instadies anyway) then my lightning golem will always hit the target at least once, and then they will have permanent exposure to lightning? nowhere does it say that this is a timed duration or has a time limit or anything like that, so I would assume as long as my lightning golem hits any target at least one time, it will have lightning exposure until that target is dead, and the -10% resistance will be applied for that whole time period? I cant see anything else from the wiki, the gem info, or your guys posts that say anything different at least after doublechecking and triplechecking xD currently running flame golem+stone golem+chaos golem+lightning golem+meat shield+minion speed all gems at 21/23 or 21/20, the increased speed really helps in getting the golems to quickly surround or crowd control enemies and "shield" me effectively, but now once again the elemental army gem is worth considering to use instead of speed, just for the purpose of more dps on tough bosses... :S |

" Assumption is the mother of all f*** ups... or so they say. ;) If that were true then Elemental Army Support would be in a very unique spot since all buffs/debuffs in this game do have a duration. Exposure from any other source is indeed limited (Frost Bomb 5 sec, Wave of Conviction 4 sec, Scorching Ray only while in beam at highest stage). Elemental Equilibrium's debuff (while not explicitely classified as Exposure) lasts 5 seconds. Combustion's debuff (again not Exposure) lasts for the duration of the Ignite that inflicts it. " I guess lol, anyway on a single target like a boss that takes a while to kill, we can confidently say that lightning golem for example will hit that target repeatedly, so applying the exposure over and over, as long as this is true, my arc skill will then benefit from the -10% lightning resistance applied? the other parts of my previous post would be good to get an answer on anyway in other words :p |

Sure, your lightning golem should reliably inflict lightning exposure with EAS in boss fights which benefits your Arc. I'm just saying the golem would be required to do it repeatedly as I have my doubts regarding Exposre being a "one hit wonder." ;)

" mm I see I see, this does then make it a bit harder to decide between elemental army/minion speed as my last support xD perhaps I could use speed while mapping and just throw in elemental army to replace minion speed before a boss, the speed gem is really good in combination with meat shield to make the golems have defensive AI , more tanky, and also move around really fast to surround mobs and "shield" me or give crowd control etc :d well tnx for all the answers and help so far anyway ! |

You can always hit 'em with Wave of Conviction for a whopping 25% reduced resistance.
Or if you can afford anotyher 25% reservation use the ever so popular Skitterbots for chill and shock. |

" yep the wave of conviction has been recommended by many to me, the ooonly thing that sucks is I really dont have a gem slot for it with current setup, only if I replace / shuffle around my orb of storms with arcane surge+culling strike setup or leap slam with fortify to flame dash with arcane surge instead, freeing up the orb of storms / culling strike / arcane surge slot to be replaced :S the cull is really nice on tough bosses but im not sure it even works on conquerors or guardians, the wiki says it does not seem to work on uber elder at least.... ah well, theorycrafting and testing continues! |
