totally on board with an ignore feature though.
That's what I'm sayin, idc about the upvote / downvote if I can eliminate the source.

^How would an ignore feature work though.
Let's say your interested in a conversation of three pages long and it has an ignored person in the mix of it.
The topic would constantly appear to be shifting out of nowhere because you wouldn't have context, no?
I'm generally against these things because i can simply ignore people myself if i want to and i like to keep the option open to be surprised by the whole
"a clock is right two times a day" thing.
I think it's worth having a couple of bad actors when in general most people are sain.
Just use them to point fingers at and go "look nephew, not like that".

Sure that's not a problem, if you have an ignore feature, you don't have to actually use it.
And the context thing isn't as bad as it seems, and normally you can tell who is talking, and if nothing else, you can laugh as other posters appear just as annoyed as you once were.
Many times I've said to other posters, "oh you don't have "so and so" on ignore?", and we enjoy a shared laugh at expense of the troll. It can actually be a bonding experience with community members lol

he could still see the ignored person's comments quoted by other people

Not always, unless the quote has the name not included or altered as the source

Well im off the opinion that you take the good together with the bad.
It's not really in my nature to sacrifice the few for the happiness of the many and ultimately this would result in people being mobbed because thats how people function in groups.

I'm curious as to why we dont currently have a way to either hide, or block posts & PM's from community members here in the GGG forums.
Both Reddit & Twitter, which GGG and their CM interact regularly, have this feature, and while certainly not perfect, has its benefits.
We have ignore features in-game, but nothing to prevent PM's, thread topics, responses, and more, to come from those we dont want to be bothered with, or worse, being trolled, spammed, or abused.
Surely this is a reasonable request? No?
Nope. I don't use Reddit or Twitter because of its psychological impact on its users.
It's like instragram "influencers" pandering for attention. Its too easy for people to hit a mob mentality all about agreeing or disagreeing.
There was even a Voyager episode about a world where everyone upvoted or downvoted to decide major decisions. I'm guessing it was a satirical call out to the obsession with folks always needing to have their say.
I don't get pm'd very often, but I'm also not a female online so I can at least acknowledge that I'm aware it can be pretty extreme. But threads and topics and responses, they're easy enough to ignore. Getting threatened by bigotry and hatred in real life is far more aggravating then angry tirades on these forums.
Now if you feel you're being harassed and targeted by someone, you're better off contacting support. When it comes to threats of violence and stalking and doxing and all that jazz - that's way too serious a thing for some generic forum interface to take care of.
Yep, totally over league play.

Yeah why even bother with prisons or criminal justice at all. Good with the bad and all that...

Some valid points.
Again I'm not really in favor of upvote / downvote, but having an ignore / mute feature is a very common, personalized, harmless tool that protects people, and has ZERO downside (other than some opinion that it's somehow good to force people to experience things they don't want to consume, for...reasons? presumably?)
