They hinted at this during the reveal but Bex seems to have confirmed it. Go for the map nodes first and foremost and ignore the league specific nodes until you have a map pool you feel comfortable with.
https://i.redd.it/mnlb2c20sbf81.png This seems to make good sense to me as it does not preclude you from later filling in what you want for the good stuff (almost akin to picking all attribute nodes first on the passive tree and then taking clusters that you want later). I am going to drive straight up the tree and put the first 5 points up to the Kirac cluster and then go right and left and fill in as many of the map nodes as I can reach. I hope the Conqueror maps are not to rare because those nodes look tasty and all 4 of them are so easy to kill, although arguably too many points to spend to get to the good nodes in the atlas tree on those clusters...(obviously a balancing technique). |

Grimro put out a video to offer his version of the best tree to league start with. He focuses on map, map sustain, essences, harbingers, leaving 50 points for customization. I think it's pretty reasonable - focus on progression first, worry about special mechanics later:

It's too bad it doesn't stay clicked/lit though. Yeah being able to buy unlimited atlas points for a very reasonable prices was a wise decision. Btw you have 128 max points but it's not just unique maps, but also all the endgame bosses. Not sure if challenges are included. To be safe I would just plan for 100 myself. " Grimro's content is always great IMO. This new tree is definitely my favorite change since Sirus. Can finally choose the content we like and then run any map we want instead of having to choose between the content we like or the map we like since they might not be in the same region. The cheap respecs are really nice so it's easy to switch if you get bored with the content you started with and want to focus on something else instead. | |

" A lot depends on how fast you play. If you are an average to above average leveler, you may get frustrated because so much of the build is unique based and you may find most of them hard to come by early. I am using this as my second build this league. |
