Last Epoch is definitely better than POE now, and here's why.....
" It's because I think (based off very early impressions) that EHG are competent is what makes me so sure of this prediction. Judd mentioned in the AMA that he has put together a team of ARPG fanatics and that they know what they want out of a game in the genre. I also got the impression (he might have said it explicitly?) that they are making the game they want to play. Once again I have to ask... sound familiar? Those things being true, that means having an uncompromising vision on a lot of mechanics. And a lack of compromise means salty players. But I'll leave you alone now - you clearly have your reasons for playing and enjoying and your parade probably isn't the target of my rain. I do stand by everything I said and I do look forward to playing the game this summer. I'll have my eye mostly on their end game systems and content release schedule. From everything I've read I have little doubt I'll get my 35 USD dollars worth of game. But what do they have to chase at the end game that might keep me playing and possibly buying cosmetics or supporter packs or whatever it is they're selling? I do see why people are excited even beyond hyperbolic troll-bait titles like this thread have. |

While I like Last Epoch, I find things still worse than Poe, models look like a mobile game, my toons just look awful, npcs have almost no voiced dialog and that makes them forgettable, the idea during the story mode is nice but I don't remember a single protagonist, they don't have personality or background.
For example, one of my favorite stories from Poe is the story of the Gemling Queen, the dialogs are incredible and the voice acting is perfect, many times I stop to hear them while I level a character. Also thee designs are so good even with the old graphics. I am not gonna lie, I stopped playing Poe early this league but not because is not the best game, but because this league has been a grind fest with nothing to do except running circles because almost every fun was nerfed, including endgame , endgame items like HH, endgame builds like autocurse, harvest, etc.. |

No, sadly do not agree with OP.
Especially on D4. By the time that hits the market, PoE2 will be there. As for LE, well, Wolcen tried, and Grim Dawn came close, but in the end, PoE always prevails thanks to the quarterly new content and free DLCs. Now, contrary to what one would expect, Chris is trying his best to actually sink PoE with ignoring long standing issues, launch disasters that gets worst every league, over tuning the game around streamers and no-lifers and nerf-festos. So ...maybe the time that one of these type of titles take over PoE might be approaching, but as of now, does not exist. "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. " I followed grim dawn and played it a lot since pre-alpha and ended to the conclusion that the only reason they ended without the traction they deserve is they allowed peoples to mod their game wich resulted into tons of builds guides on forum showing off with great gears but definitely not convenient for new players. This is where PoE shine, the ecosystem around builds guides is fantastic and very engaging for peoples that want to get a good idea of what they can do in the game. There might be some others reasons like a very little marketing effort, and after all maybe the devs want to keep small as it is who knows, but it is a bit sad because that's a fantastic game, I prefer its ambience by far than the PoE one at many levels. Just preference tho, I like both. Hf :)

Last Epoch also just had its largest patch to date yesterday and their ideal of a nerf is reducing mana regen from 15 to 13%.
Chris's ideal of a nerf is just globally reducing everything by 30% b/c Empyrian did something retarded on his stream. I am sick and tired of an entire game being balanced around 8 professional gaming streamers with massive private hordes of traders and crafters at their disposal. Last Epoch is far from perfect but the people in charge actually play the game and reside in reality, that hasnt been true for POE for a very long time now. I didnt even play the 1st 5 weeks of this league out of utter distain for the latest patch notes, I caved eventually and tried it but it was just hot garbage. I may occasionally log in out of boredom and play for an hour but im done spending any actual money on this game. Instead im patiently waiting for Last Epoch to develop and install more endgame content and experimenting with different builds. |

" A reality check for anyone who didn't read the patch notes (I'm assuming that's everyone here) " So that's a 20% reduction. Curious where you saw 15 -> 13? Feedback in thread: "Is this really necessary?" "What about focus? With new base mana regen its now even more bad then before. Devs said they were looking into it. But i was wrong." "Mana regen is a troll affix and destroyer of gear" " Roughly a 50% nerf. Feedback in thread: "Holy Aura got wreccckeed" " Feedback in thread: "Also RIP Shadow Daggers, I dont agree with the way it was handled." 'detailed post about how the nerf was wrong b/c it affected the feel of the gameplay and not the damage' So perhaps its not totally honest to act like LE isn't doing big nerfs? In addition I saw people saying things shouldn't be nerfed because 'they take so much investment'. What does that sound like over on this side of the fence? (aura stacking nerfs) And when you're talking about balancing around 'max investment' you're talking about what the power gamers are doing, aka the 1% of farthest progressed players. Do any of you really truly think that LE won't balance around the strongest use cases of builds? Do any of you think they won't keep doing nerfs? I don't understand what the end-game plan is of deluding yourself that LE's development will be substantially different over the long run. |

" This sums up a very large portion of what is wrong with the game, and why most people are not happy with the current state of the game. - Game tuned for streamers, because they buy flashy MTX and give free advertising. That is understandable for a free to play game. However, the consequences of this is, as you rightfully said, these guys use hordes of people to bot and flip currency and items for them. Especially with this growing sensation of extravagant gamble videos. Yeah, watching someone pop 144 Uber Elder Watchers eyes, are interesting to watch, but now it gets repeated by 5 or 6 streamers, and fucked is the economy. ( EDIT : Before that guy say, but 5 mirrors won't effect overall economy, this is just one example. There are countless of these videos going around for a range of items. ) So, it is a double edged sword, with no end in sight, unless Chris change this trend. Go back to making good content that pulls in more people, instead of focusing solely on appeasing the streamers. "There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. I may play LE longer than 1-2 days after they fix the bad minion AI , rework their item editor crafting system, introduce meaningful damage tool tips and make skills that are granted in the skill passive tree be more transparent what they really do.
As it stands now it is very raw and there is not much to do after the convoluted campaign (that has lots of filler/traversing zones with no zone challenges or quests). Masterpiece of 3.16 lore
