Hard crashing PC locks up

Intel XEON1230 + AMD RX7600 +DX12 > PC SHUT DOWN

AMD Ryzen 9 7900 + AMD7600 + DX12 > PC SHUT DOWN

The Ryzen PC is awesome, 870E Board etc etc, not one problem with anything.

Its a shame what GGG does....

and got hard pc reboot after changing location.

IDK but after messing around with bios/cpu settings mostly setting stuff back to default as I mentioned in my previous post here I have now no crashes at all for 4 days straight, not a single time, other games worked and still work perfectly before I made these changes poe2 crashed all the time for me,

my specs again:

ryzen 7800x3d cpu
rtx 4060 ti gpu
2x16gb ddr5 6000 ram
1tb nvme disk
windows 11 23h2 with all cumulative latest updates for 23h2
nvidia driver 572.47

I forgot to mention in my last post that I also cleared cache and shader cache from both the game itself and windows own shader cache, then I set the nvidia shader cache to unlimited in the driver global settings, also I did not need to reinstall game or windows to fix crashes,


but is also worth mentioning that I force disabled automatic windows update and now i'm running windows 11 23h2 specifically with all the latest updates+cumulative update 23h2 for that version only, to avoid risk with 24h2 crashes for now, I even had to rollback once from 24h2 when it did auto update just to be safe, before I disabled the automatic updates,



I think that is all I can remember for now, and in my previous post there is more info about what I changed to fix crashes, if someone with similar system have crashes still maybe it's worth checking all these things out one by one, or copy my settings or something IDK, I will try now to send my dxdiag.txt somehow to GGG also maybe it helps :S

I'm pretty sure i disabled the auto-update.
But for SOME reason windows downloaded the latest update.
Which means it adds the orange marks with applying those updates in the shut down menu!

How do I reverse that or do a roll back if it starts the updating without my consent ?

Like many of you, I stopped playing the game due to the crashes, scared of damaging my computer.

After reading all different alternatives posted here, I decided to try the game again. Just in case, I used Lasso to set CPU affinity as many of you suggested and...

After 6, 7 hours of gameplay I think I can say that the problem is gone :) (fingers crossed).

Finally I can play the game!!!

My specs:


- AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- MSI X670E Gaming Plus
- 64 GB DDR5
- NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti
- Windows 11 Pro 24H2 26100.3323

any update on the hardlockups are we still getting them im still scared to play with my brand new pc... lost my old 1 alrdy

very fun fact:

to check if everything is ok with my computer i tested almost all modern games and now i have two games on pc with this problem:

1) path of exile 2
2) and........... diablo iv!
its sounds like a joke, but its true.
the same problem - d4 is hardreseting my pc, with exactly the same symptoms
maybe somebody with this case can confirm it?)

“Fixing Crashes and Performance Issues:
Crashes have been a major area of focus for the development team since launch. We have fixed hundreds of different crashes, but there are still more to find.

On the server side of things, we have reduced the number of crashes significantly. They should be very rare now.

The client side of things has been a lot harder to deal with. For the most part, crashes in gameplay code have been addressed, but there are some much harder engine crashes that we have yet to find.

The worst of these is a full system freeze that has occurred since Windows 11's
24H2 update. We still don't know exactly what caused this problem, but we have deployed a workaround that seems to be preventing the freeze. We are working with Microsoft to find a better long term solution.

The remaining crashes are happening inside the GPU driver, known as "Device removed" errors. We have added a command line switch "--ex-crash-report" which adds extra logging to help us debug this issue at the cost of a small amount of performance. (Once you have crashed a couple of times with this option enabled, you can disable it again, we will have enough reports).

We are working with nVidia to try and come up with a fix for this issue.
Switching to Vulkan seems to reduce the number of crashes significantly for some users, so we would suggest trying that if you are crashing often.

Is this problem really solved?

The bug report fixes thread shows that GGG moved this issue to the “fixed bugs” part of their post

Is it true? Can I actually play the game now?

The crashes did not break my PC (I don’t think that’s possible personally)

But they did cause some kind of issues, my pc developed some pretty messed up corrupt files I believe

I did a full reset on my pc, the 6+ hour long full reset

And my pc was back to normal again

I can’t say my windows files was corrupted because of poe2 crashes but, it definitely got worse after them (if i were to guess, i had over 20 hard pc lock ups in loading screens)

Anyways I don’t want to play and have it freeze up again I swore I wouldnt play until this issue is fixed

Anyone know for sure from experience that they no longer have hard pc lock-up crashes from Poe 2 loading screens anymore and that this “bug” is truly fixed?

also, do i need to disable multi thread or lock 2 of my cpu cores again?
