Same here, 4080super with 9800x3d and 64gbDDR5. works flawlessly most of time but I did notice a spike 90/100% CPU usage when loading an area and figured this might be the issue when we have hard PC crash.
I figured disabling multicore/thread might tank performance so I am using Loseless scaling program (3rd party you can purchase on steam for like 5-10USD). I recomend this software I use it with a lot of games that don't have frame gen and it usually works fine.

The game is freezing and quitting right from the beginning with the 2 gears.
I have Win version 23H2, NOT 24H2.
People say to use Vulkan / Direct X / whatever but I can't even access the settings panel of the game.
BES I cannot target the application, not the time.
CPU max limitation does nothing.
Affinity ? No time to select the application and apply it, it is crashing before.
I tried the launch.bat, well launched when the game is launching with steam command, no result.
Steam overlay disabled.
Thread optimisation in nvidia disabled.
POE1 working fine.
I want so much play this game. I know it's early access, still frustrated :)
To the ones who didn't try: I did a check for corrupted files (right click on poe in steam, had 102 corrupted files/properties/installed files/check integrity) and I had 102 corrupted.
Now the game is launching. Let's see the rest, but I'm happy.
Played 5h without any issue.

Same issue, not able to log into Ziggarut encampment in Act 3 to play.
Fully freezes, had task bar open on second attempt and it stopped working instantly as well. Only able to move mouse, but alt+F4 or CTRL+ALT+DELETE doesn't work.

No more problem of freezing + hard reset since yesterday
When i launched STEAM i saw a very little automatic donwload for POE2
I said to myself maybe they fixed it , i played all day long yesterday , no more problems. no lags no freeze no more problems at all when loading screen
I play WIndows 8 compatibility + POE2 as administrator.
Windowed full screen , no VSYNC , + NVIDIA DLSS on .
I have 24h2 Windows 11
I download all latest drivers for CPU and GPU of course , BIOS is updated as usual .

I think that's just shaders being compiled when you enter a new zone.
