Is it too much to ask for GGG to acknowledge this outside of a "investigating claims" which almost seems to imply people are lying about the problem? These issues are frustrating and I feel for you, however, they won't damage any hardware. Modern computers do not work like that.
At worst and only with some serious "luck" your drivers or OS might get shot.
