POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen

They introduced this back in 2016 for POE 1 and it still didn't fix the engine problems.

Guess it still continues in POE2.

And I never see it posted so it's worth a try for others at least

Alright so, I finally fixed it for me. Apparently there's issues with Nvidia graphic card compatibility.

I found this video absolutely randomly explaining the whole process.

Long story short, Nvidia allocates PoE2 to the PoE1 folder in your PC. Beside that, the cache allocated for the game is by default ~4GB (You need to change this to 100GB/Unlimited) These two should completefly fix random stutters, the Loading screen hardfreeze and other tiny annoyances.

*The cache tip might also work for non-Nvidia Graphic cards.*

Make sure you follow the exact steps of the video and it's going to improve your performance tremendously.(the video shows both PoE2 and PoE1 methods, so don't mix them up)

It worked for me after I had given up hope for a fix before 1.0, so I hope it works for you guys as well, have fun!

I've been playing POE1 for the last few days with only one loading screen freeze. Tonight, I can't even get past the first loading screen in POE1. Trying to zone into Highgate, CPU goes to 100 and stays there.

@GGG I grabbed a memory dump while the game was frozen. I don't know if that would be useful. After executing the memory dump, I got kicked to the login screen - perhaps some kind of anti-cheat mechanism? If the dump file would be useful for debugging, send me a DM or email.

I lost my PC after forcing shutdown many times, and decide to retire instead of building a new one. Guess you all should wait till bug have been solved.

I analyzed the memory dump and two threads stuck out to me

Is Discord causing this? I know when you load into PoE, you get that stupid "stream game to friends" overlay. so, I closed Discord. On the following login, rather than just freezing, I crashed to desktop. After trying again several more times, I'm able to load the game.

I'm not going to say this is a solution for anyone, but closing Discord has enabled me to load into the game. If I open Discord back up, I get loading screen freezes again.

Please get your brakes tested regularly, the "fact" your pc bricked because you kept turning on the same application that was damaging your system is wild, after the first couple of times surely you stop playing and wait for a fix.

On a side note, patch notes are out and it contains a potential fix for the hard crashing issue so lets hope

Potential fix for the crash affecting Win 24H2 players.

Finally it will (potentially) get fixed on the next patch! I hope that works.

To the bunch of people who keeps spamming "this is a windows problem, not GGG" on both threads, please apologize.

Anybody testing the new patch, GGG notes said it has fixed the 24H2 crashing.
