This happens with players even without the most popular build. PoE players stopped trying to "figure" things out as it became more mainstream, especially around atlas of worlds release.

I remember alkaizer using whirling blades to farm dried lake.. times have changed.

I think this is what GGG wants as well.
IMO the gold standard is act 1-2, they need to walk a fine line between balancing endgame progression and not having you turn into a literal god. This means balance for the monsters too.

yeah i played firemage in that xpac, got reeled in with the story and groupplay with old work colleagues, the hardest part was them all playing the new FOTM Spiritborns, because you actually didn't play.

same here, I played a incinerate lich to 96 in 0.2 but even with gg gear I couldn't match a fraction of LS clear. Its just not fun. same as in D4, and thats a problem. aw well june will be poe1 again, so who cares.

But my original point stands, players are not interested in slow methodical playing, even my specc was neither slow nor methodical, i just killed everything while holding down a mouse button: https://youtu.be/bLzOCWefPII

d2 was fine 25 years ago, but I don't live in the past. I'm also not in school anymore, my free time is worth a bit more. I'm not interested in D2 style solo boss runs for hours and hours on end to get one decent item.
and thats the point I'm making, the majority of players agree with me, even GGG seems to smell the roses, looking at those 0.2g patchnotes.
But my main gripe this patch was and is not loot, its speed, not even so much the fighting speed but the time needed to clear a map. Its insane that those guys expect about ~10-20 hours of pure gametime to reach a citadel.
If I weren't done with the mini league already, i would even play.

They can enjoy having 50k players forever then, because most people play ARPG because they want to clear screens and oneshot the bosses. And have actual movement speed.

"Vision" will never be popular.

So one day Tencent will force them to remove vision, because it invested in money lmao and many people are not buying packs anymore until vision is removed.

The basic concept behind farming is getting stronger. Getting stronger means making content easier. Content that was hard before becomes medium hard. Medium hard content becomes easy. Easy content becomes completely trivial. Now if you farm long enough, most if not all content becomes trivial aka screen clear and high movement speed (maybe pinnacles can be an exception).

If that is not possible though because the difficulty curve doesnt allow it because the "vision" is everythings always a challenge (i.e. the improvements you make on your character are not enough to eventually trivialize the game) then farming becomes pointless. Why farm when it never means you actually get a lot stronger? Farm 100h for 1% power increases that have no effect on your clear speed? Nobody is gonna go through that.
Hence screen clear+high movespeed builds must be (eventually, after a lot of farming) possible, otherwise there is no point in farming at all and players will stop. Which is exactly what has happened in the last weeks. How Jonathan doesnt understand smth that trivial is beyond me.
Cuz u need to play this game a lot to understand nothing happens between 100hr to 400 hr, some numbers changed that's all.

True. Thats where the crux is and probably no one has ever playtested that much. But now a lot of ppl have explained it to them in very basic terms...so I hope they can see it now.
