I'm not coming back to PoE2 until some major changes happen
Yeah I know,
I can allready see ya'll waving me off with a smirk on your face and a cheeky "get good" on your lips. But I really tried to get behind this game. I now clocked in about 55 hours on steam, and yet have to finish act 3 on any of my characters. And yes i deliberatly refuse to look up good builds because I want to experience the game my way and play the stuff that is fun for me. That was always how I approached PoE and in that I at least made it through the whole campaign, without even break a sweat. I have played every major ARPG, and this just doesnt feel right. While I actually enjoy the combat quite a bit, it is way to punishing, right from the start. Should I be able to just tank every hit without any issue? Should I randomly die to the weirdest mechanic, even though they barely hit me all the time? Maybe in harder difficulties, but the first 3 acts? I clocked in over 180 deaths ony my first character before i gave up on her. Now with my ranger, thigs are a lot smother. Around 30 deaths by the end of act 2. But now I am on the dreadnought and I feel like murdering somebody. Grotesque large maps, with tight corridors, monster collision and monster respawn on death. Who thinks this is a good idea? It literally took me an hour to get through the first dreadnought map and that on a character that pretty much oneshot almost every boss since the end of act 1. This is just frustrating and there are often situation where you are just being trapped and surrounded by dozens of mobs, without any chance of getting out. So you die, respawn at the beginning of the map and everything respawns with you. What in the actual fuck. And this is just the tip of the bad desgin ice-berg. There are so many bad maps, like the Deshan Tower Spires or pretty much all of act 3. Imagine having to do this campaign over and over, every league start. Nah, not gonna happen for me. I almost feel bullshitted, when I think about the playtime claims GGG made for the camapaign. Sure, when you need an hour to get through one map, getting 25 hours of playtime out of the campaign is easy. But this campaign doesnt have that much actualy content. It just has stupid long maps, with absolute nonsense layout where you just get lost all the time. And I hear the same shit is true for mapping in the endgame. Please shoot me now. I am still sticking with it for now though. But it might be my first and last playthrough of the campaign. I don't want to suffer when I play videogames, especially ARPGs. When the D4 Dev proclaimed the term "diablo like" people were shit talking him, even though he was totally right. Because POE2 doesnt play like any Diablo game. THere are people calling the the "True Diablo 3". You guys are insane. This game has nothing to do with Diablo 2. And I played that game like crazy when it was actually current content. Playing D2 up to at least nightmare was a breeze. It was super fun and aproachable. POE2 is an actual nightmarish experience. So here is what I would like to see changed, in order for the game to feel like an actual ARPG and an actual sequel to Path of Exile. - A more forgiving difficulty curve, where I can actually learn my class, explore the passive tree and abilities. I already see people clinging to premade builds. Not even a week in. And they cry like mad when it gets nerfed. Is that really what we want? - Better, shorter map layout throughout the campaign. I feel like act 1 is ok when it comes to map size, even though when you get unlucky, you can get stuck in there for a bit aswell, since it's never really obvious where you need to go. I feel like the campaign could be have as long with better maps and still feel fine to play. - Please don't respawn monsters...If I suck at the game, I at least wanna be able to chip away at the game bit by bit and feel like I make progress. - Just get rid of Character collision. Not even do monsters block me, but people in my party. This is just so frustrating and is just in complete opposition of what to me makes a game feel like an ARPG. We might not want the crazy speed of POE 1. I get that, but this is just so frustrating at times. - Work on visual clarity. If I play with my mate who plays witch with srs and fire stuff. I cant see shit when we play together but unlike in an actual ARPG you need to actually see stuff, because of doding etc. and stuff just living so long. I generally feel like party play needs some love. Tried to do the chaos Trial together and it was kinda messy. As mentioned in the start of this post, I am surely gonna get a lot of flag for just being bad at the game. But I am actually an above average gamer in most games I play. So I feel like, there might be a large group of players who feel the same. So surely, there must be a healthy middleground between what POE2 is right now, and an actual, diable-like game. Cheers! Campaign is tedious and doesn't have charm. I honestly prefer poe1 campaign, because you are not stuck in the same area for that much time, so it feels more fresh.

Isn't it funny how people look down on you when you "follow a build", yet at the same time if you simply want to try out things for yourself, you'll end up stuck in act 1 or 2... They call it a skill issue. But where is the part where i can learn and try things out? It certainly isn't Act 1 of PoE 2.

I've finished the game and around 20 maps. I loved the experience, it brought back memories from WoW raiding. However it's too much of a struggle for me to want to try new characters and do it all over again or grind T2/T3 maps. I think if this difficulty stayed as a "ruthless" option and a toned down "normal" difficulty was available the game would feel so much better.

the main things i agree with in ur post are maps are too big and tight corridors are really bad esp in dreadnaught area where some mobs jump behind you and then you are bodyblocked kinda really annoying
Add Scion To PoE2

" I think most people will wave you off because you formatted your post as a wall-of-text. |

I played Diablo 4 during the free weekend and I played quite a bit of Lost Epoch. You know what I never had to do in either of those? Go on a fucking trade site to get resistance gear so I wouldn't die repeatedly to a goddamn boss.

" Well, what you're saying is what we've been SCREAMING would happen since day 1... playing through this game once is tedious but still an ok/good-ish fun...but having to do it all over 10, 20, 50, 100 times over a long period of time? FUCK NO!!! You'd have to be a masochist... the game is super tedious and extremely long And, no it's not hard, I trash mobs and bosses with my build but it's simply too convoluted, long and BOOOOOORING!!! Sorry, that's the sad truth... this game has an expiration date as it is but the fanbois keep saying "skill issue" or that we are "whiners" and we're "complaining because we lack skill for this game"... which btw needs waaaaaay less skill than PoE1 because in PoE1, making a good build that carries you to endgame without a guide is close to a miracle while in this game making a good build all you have to do is take the most obvious synergizing skills, add the most obvious support gems, take the most obvious skill tree nodes and you're done... |
