+1 let people in other timezones also have a chance to buy items instead of being forced to buy in a really short timespan each day and deal with scams the rest of the day.

" Yeah, and it was friggin amazing for casual couch play. But now they've straight up removed it in 2 so console players will have to sit there with their phones or laptops out Just do something GGG, it doesn't have to be prefect from the start, but just something that works on consoles without a second device Ninja. +1 The current experience is very frustrating and it gets worse as a league ages.
People don't reply. Some items eventually get to 1ex and people don't respond. 1 ex is not worth leaving your trial/map farm. Scammers flood items at low b/o prices they never intend to sell hoping new players will post using that as the price baseline to flip. Imagine how that would feel for a new player not knowing the true value of something that could be game changing for them and finding out later. Not being able to sell items I have listed offline sucks. I know people have fully automated sell bots. Not fair and not managed well by ggg imo. Copy/paste item doesn't work on trade website. Looking up an item shouldn't take having the player manually enter all the stats. Horrible user experience. Farming items is fun, crafting is fun, playing the trade website game is not. |

many reasons for that were already mentioned. |

Current implementation feels very bad and is impossible for a brand new player to start with. I have a collegue who actually stopped playing PoE2 BECAUSE the trading system is lacking, he was playing on console in his couch so doing trades was basically impossible so he just went back to D4... 1) The game doesn't tell you how to trade (or even that the possibility exist), there is no button anywhere in the UI to send you to the trade site or anything like that. 2) If you manage to figure out that trading exist, you still have to actually google "poe2 trade" to try and find the trade site, I haven't been able to find it on pathofexile.com at least, I just find the one for PoE1. 3) If you manage to finally figure out how to filter out and find an item you want to buy and realize you have to send a message to another player by clicking the "Direct Message" button you will then be in for a really bad time, no one will ever answer you because you are a new player and are attempting to buy something for less than an exalt, maybe an alteration or transmutation orb, NO ONE will take the time to reply to a trade like that. So you will just be stuck clicking button after button with nothing happening. When you get to higher levels/currencies this is less of a problem but it's still super annoying, I ignore probably 80-90% of trade requests because I am currently in a fight (which is the whole point of the game and what you SHOULD be doing) and by the time I am done, the buyer has probably already bought the item from someone else. Then you have the occassional scammers who change the text for the buyout price and hope we forget what the item we listed was listed for. Or the bastards who flood the market with items listed at 1 ex that should cost 1 div only to try and manipulate the market. These are all things we could solve by having an actual ingame auction house. I have heard the reasoning behind not implementing auction house, but there are solutions to everything! Step1: Just make it work exactly like now, but inside the game instead of a web page. You just cannot argue that this changes anything. Step2: When you click the "Direct Message" button, the seller can get a small notification that someone wants to buy your item and have the option to "Accept" or "Reject". This cannot possible change anything other than speed up the process, we just skip the whole dance with invite -> town portal -> go to hideout -> send trade request -> move items into trade window -> click accept -> disband party -> send a "Thanks" -> go back through portal. Note: I understand that you might WANT people to go to other peoples hideouts to get to see fancy microtransaction stuff that they also want to buy. So, another option is to just require the buyer to go to the sellers hideout and retrieve the item automatically without me as a seller having to stop what I am doing. Step3: Now that we have these things, we can just go one step further and don't require the seller to even be online, the seller could potentially have the option to list an item as "can be bought offline" or if he/she prefers, only sell the item as normal, you can then replace the "Direct Message" button with a "Instant Buy" button, you will then possibly have to go to the sellers Hideout to pick up the item, or it could just be sent to your inventory (but I have a feeling you still want the hideout interaction) There are a number of things you can add to add the "friction" you talk about, you could have it so that items that have been traded cannot be traded again for x number of days, i'm even up for making traded items soulbound to remove them from the market, keeping prices relevant. Have some sort of gold cost involved (don't really like that since it would completely remove all "cheap" items from the market since gold > orb of transmutation for example), maybe some currency cost. I'm even down to go full fixed prices calculated by the stats on an item, for example better tier cost more than worse tier, every extra affix/suffix adds, socket, quality adds to the cost. |
