Path of Exile 2 Act 3 Boss Kill Race 1 Recap
Really should think about implementing some form of reward for AT THE LEAST top 50 [maybe 100] for each class or something. Need to give people competing something to actually strive for.
I understand rewarding the top 0.01% that dedicates themselves to time tracking/repeating the campaign "for fun" 12 hours a day with live split running but basing the ENTIRE race on this is bad design in general. This is ridiculously unattainable for the majority of those that support your games. I feel a compromise of some sort is needed to make the event more rewarding in general if you really want these events to have any real value outside of a Twitch viewer surge [which is inevitably going to plummet on future races if this is the framework for events that's going to stay]. Normally I'm against participation trophies but rewards should really be dispersed of some form for the upper percentiles [1-10%]. Последняя редакция: BlobEyez#2266. Время: 3 марта 2025 г., 17:17:10

Didn't watch. Didn't join. Did some maps in Phrecia.
Had more hype for that. Kinda curious what the point was for this event. Was it to generate hype? To have something to do while waiting for relevant content, or even relevant news about upcoming content? |

" Hell no This was a RACE EVENT, not a " Come get your free mtx" participation event. And it was marketed as such, so if you feel like you were entitled to being given something just for joining in, that's not on GGG, that's on you for misunderstanding the event or wanting it to be something else. Racing events are for people to prove whose the best, not for people to just show up and hold out their hand for free shit. We don't need that mentality here. |

after reading the comments i am on the same page with participation rewards.
even tiered rewards where an attribute or stat improves if you've beaten your previous race time. They dont have to be good or OP or build defining. I personally thought i'd have a really good chance at the race event but i had family things come up and when i got home. I had 3 hours left of the first race event. I registered and was completely thrown off by seeing a fixed layout that was not a layout i've had any experience with in any of my dozen or so playthroughs. I lost 10 seconds exiting clearfell because you changed where the door out is. anyway its a cool event for sure things could be better as always people will always complain and act like entitled little babies making threats that they won't play your game and do something else like touch grass, which i very much doubt. To try and keep things positive and constructive. I'll summarize, as follows. -participation rewards -individual rewards for improving your time -some clarity around 'fixed layout' telling people it would be different from what they have experienced. -some more clarity before starting regarding what happens if you register with 2 hours left, you complete it within 4 hours. Does your time still get registered on the leaderboard but people may not register after the timer has closed. Some clarification here would have gone a long way to keep me going in the race. This uncertainty i had weather my run would count or not is what ultimately made me quit and i went back to playing my ssf character after 1 hour. | |
The race event was cool and I did enjoy watching it but I think it was wild that there was a tie down to the second, and they just arbitrarily gave one of them a reward and told the other to fuck off, presumably because their run was slower by an infinitely tiny fraction of a nanosecond.
You couldn't spare an extra? If you're going to say that the tiebreakers are going to be made based on certain criteria, it needs to be stated ahead of time and also demonstrably true given the information available to the viewers. |
