Do you guys want to lower monster speed?

After this very very very nice 0.2 update, I thought and also heard from other players that the monsters are still playing poe1 while we are crippled whit poe2 movement.

I think lowering monster speed or monster action speed would be a nice solution. Not only would it make it so that we can strategize better on where to move/dodge, but also would give us the playground to actually make the skill combos GGG wants us to do.

So my question is: Do you want to lower monster speed? Or do you think something else is the problem/solution?

Also, this idea kinda brings with itself the question:

Do you like/want the idea of skill combos?


My concern if the combo system is gone, is that it would just make the game too similar to poe1. And at that point, just develop poe1 instead of kinda making a 'copy' of it.

What do you guys think; I really want to know your opinion on this.

Slightly lower monster speed would, imho be logical since the game is slower. No, no need cut to half as some people say. Just some 10-15% negative speed boots on all of them.
I agree. All from white to yellow should be slowed by a good 30%.

Bosses are fine. I quite enjoy the combat with them.

Some rares are definitely more challenging than bosses, and whites are disgustingly powerful.

i think GGG are too used to making fast swarmy monsters from poe1 where the player has always been super fast and there was a need to get to you and at least get 1 hit in before you nuked the entire screen.


theres a time and a place for swarming but it felt a lot like there was usually 3, 4, 5 different monster types on the screen at once and at least one of them was usually fast.


way too much back kiting, its impossible to have tactical gameplay when you are always a second away from being swarmed. it doesnt make the game more balanced for melee, we can see that, actually in poe1 we have seen the faster monsters have got the more people have complained that melee is trash. i dont think its the only contributor, or even the main one, but any idea that ranged chars being jumped on rapidly somehow evens out ranged advantage (if that is even an idea theyre working with) doesnt play out in my experience. its just as bad for melee because it means you can never pick the positioning of the fighting and i think that matters more to melee than ranged because you want to manage who you are in melee range with.


i dont rly share a lot of criticisms people have of poe2, i quite like most of what they have done. but monsters being too fast and all over you was one of my biggest criticisms. i think when monsters are too fast you cant enjoy the gameplay being slower and more tactical, because its kind of not, and you just wish they would give you back nuking the screen because thats the only way you feel any agency over the combat when everything just jumps on you instantly.

There is a HUGE disconnect between the experience we are having and "the vision". Monster speeds and one shot mechanics are something contributing to ruining the experience.
I'd prefer to increase player speed, and mostly through opt-in trade offs. I don't mind the idea of occasionally being confronted by some monsters that happen to be strong against us due to our build's specific weaknesses. I kind of assumed that's always been an intended part of the game.

I like what GGG are trying to do, but I think the 'slow and methodical' description should be taken with a grain of salt. Instead we should simply be trying to avoid mindless blaster game-play.

I don't want mindless zooming, but I also don't want a boring game.

Yeah, I was thinking first like 10-15% then GGG can just fine-tune it, see if its to small of a change or not.
I found this modified rare monster. It's unbeatable.

With the invisibility of basic monster's skill, hasted, hasted aura, and enrage made this monster harder than freaking boss fight.

So many builds are simply unplayable because of monster speed.

Namely any slow caster build, impossible.
