How will PoE2 monetisation be effected? (EU New gaming rules)
Just watched this YouTube video about the Digital fairness Act.
How will PoE2 react to this? I ask this because whilst I love the game (yes, I’m one of those people that enjoy the 0.2 DotH patch/season), the monetisation is completely out of control for some of the packs costing hundreds of pounds, which I think is very predatory. I do hope that it humbles the gaming industry and we can move forward like valued customers instead of valued victims. We will see? Bellular News always seems very informative and accurate in my experience, so I’ve watched this with confidence that it’s correct. Dont think it will effect them much as there is only the one in game currency. I think its mainly targeted at games that have multiple in game currency.
As for the poe mtx been out of control, i have to disagree. Its just mtx and has no benefit in game. Also, you do know that the higher priced mtx supporter packs include all the lower cost packs? so if you buy the $480 pack it includes the $240, $160, $100 and $60 packs |

" It’s not based on the number of different currencies. Ofc we don’t have all of the data that was discussed or implemented but I’m looking forward to when we do. :) Yes I’m aware that you get the previous items also. $480 though?!!! Not exactly targeting sane people. I can say this with a degree of experience too. After falling into depression and spending £4000+ on a game and not being fully aware of it. After therapy I’m a lot more aware of my actions. These silly costed digital items can target children to. Every child or young adult that spends an obscene amount of money on a digital product is removing the ability to set themselves up for future life and being able to support themselves in later years. Edit: but we will see how things go in the coming weeks/months I guess. :) Note: this only affects the EU, not Asia and USA. So maybe we will see different products for targeted audiences? Also, it may be worth mentioning if MTX should be allowed in unfinished/alpha/beta games. This I feel should be the incentive to get a viable product completed instead of early releases by every AAA so that they can’t milk the cow before it’s born. This may just be a moral view but I would hope that it becomes legal.

I never said it was based off different currency, i said it was more targeted at that. I think all ggg have to do is put the real life money value on each product in the store and the option to buy it directly with real money.
As for you complaining about $460 supporter, remember, you dont have to buy it. There is no advantage to anyone that does buy it, its just mtx. Its not like some gacha game where you have buy $1000 each month to compete with others. Its just skins, stop the fomo Also the mtx are available in poe 1, so your argument about mtx in unfinished game is not valid Последняя редакция: STVAR#2782. Время: 10 апр. 2025 г., 06:47:03

" I read the whole act, not the video, the real document, and I see NOTHING that could be related to POE2. Pricing of stuff is not the topic. Every company is free to put the price they want as long as it is not misleading on what you are buying or how much you will pay. |

" I understand that it’s just cosmetic and I don’t have a problem with the theory of cosmetics, just when they get out of control, as they do here. FOMO is a thing though and a thing they mention in the video and how it’s not allowed now. PoE2 isn’t finished and it’s here that I’m referring. Yes, they’ll have to put real money values on items. It was also mentioned in the video that we “could” see some games disappear from EU markets, though I don’t think we will. We are a large customer base so I think we will just see a slightly different product, but anything that makes a better game rather than a better cash cow will be a refreshing direction imho, no matter how big or small. It was great to see so many indie games or smaller companies get lots of awards this year for their games, this is what we need to focus on imho and the profits should reflect that. I’m a firm fan of Swen Vincke and love his vision of gaming. There are other views I respect ofc, though I don’t always agree with them but I understand supply and demand can be coerced with clever marketing, I just think that we should add a bit or morality in there somewhere and I understand morality doesn’t always mean law. :) |

" Thanks, do you have a link to the act, so we are on the same page? Cheers. :) |

dont think it will hurt ggg but games like elder scrolls online are going to hurt

" Additionally, shop currency is now said to have a real world value and thus refunds should be expected to be permitted to revert it back to their normal currency. So if you buy a cosmetic pack that contains lots of items and also ingame shop currency, they’ll need to offer a refund to transfer game currency to EU. Hmm. |
