How will PoE2 monetisation be effected? (EU New gaming rules)
Has anyone heard any new news on this today? Official response would be gratefully received but I’d understand if you couldn’t go to far into details just yet.

" It seems like you might have some wires crossed here because the Digital Fairness Act hasn't even been fully written yet and their site says it won't be proposed until 2026 at the earliest, and that starts a lengthy review and decision-making process so it's unlikely anything the Act will go into effect until 2027 and even then there's usually a grace period giving organizations time to make changes to bring their services into compliance - so we could be talking about 2030 before this starts being enforce (assuming it is enacted at all). " If that's true it's definitely not part of the Digital Fairness Act. Последняя редакция: Kerchunk#7797. Время: 11 апр. 2025 г., 12:52:28

I think the new rules are directed at companies directly targeting little kids with gambling simulators. As POE is a game for adults over 18 and has a F2P model I think it just falls outside.
However any company selling in game currency is legally obliged to give refunds on demand. Other than that I haven't read it so this is anecdotal. |

It doesn’t stipulate that on the video. It refers to all games, irrelevant of age. I’m not aware of timescales but it seems from the video that action has started.

" Action has started. That action being the research and planning that will help them write the proposal https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Fairness_Act " The rules you're referring to related to currency and refunds are part of the Digital Services Act (DSA) which has been in affect since 2022: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Services_Act GGG and PoE are already subject to the DSA in the EU and no changes are being made to this legislation, so nothing in this video related to currency, refunds, payments, etc. is new information. If you consider this YouTube creator to be an "accurate and informative" source I would be a little more skeptical in the future, because this video is very clearly engagement-bait that is misrepresenting facts in order to drive views and controversy. Saying "every AAA is in trouble" when the legislation isn't even written yet is just ridiculous. Последняя редакция: Kerchunk#7797. Время: 11 апр. 2025 г., 17:21:27

Hopefully it will be not, government shouldn't affect private companies at all. Thankfully GGG is owned by China and not EU, so you may expect some common sense from GGG.
But like last poster said, it isn't even written, so maybe it will never be in effect. |

based on the current draft the only thing they would have to do is put real currency prices beside the gold prices. "expensive" doesnt mean predatory.

" The things your talking about is the DSA not the DFA. Bellular has seldom been wrong and when they have, they’ve been upfront about their mistakes. They are very formal and well informed imho. I seldom watch the “typical” YouTuber as you’re right that they are very click bait these days!! Also, not sure wiki is 100% accurate as I believe anyone can alter “facts” on there. I would hope they are right but I wouldn’t call them reliable. I’d always try and cross refer what wiki states with other factual content, if I needed to be 100% accurate. |

" Governments shouldn’t affect private companies?…. That’s a very odd statement to make, as that’s one of the roles every government in every country since the history of ever has ever done and it stops companies from price fixing, monopolising, ensures fair pay, governs taxes, ensures people have a safe place to work, enforces consumer rights etc…. 😳 |
