Last Epoch is a game for 1-2 days, same as d4. Sure you can fuck around with a few builds that are piss easy to put together, but once the novelty wears off you begin to realize that you're farming to the smallest of gains in the history of arpgs.

Character power cannot be THAT frontloaded, this is basic game development. And they wonder why their numbers tank to non-existence after one week.

Tank to non-existence after 1 week? Funny because until now LE has way more players than PoE2 on steam.

Are you sure it's not PoE2 numbers instead?

You do realize most people that play POE don't use Steam right?

The fact that POE2 has so many people playing on Steam alone means that Last Epoch is getting destroyed in the numbers. You would expect LE to win for a week or two, and yet they can't even top POE 2.
I don't use steam to play poe
Looks like Last Epoch is losing players way faster than Path of Exile 2.

What does that mean? I thought Last Epoch was supposed to be the perfect ARPG. It's almost like the sheep's plays whatever their favorite streamer plays, lol.

That's funny. I'd like to see the 'LE is perfect' posts to laugh at. Any links?

Console loot filter for POE2 Please!
It's amazing that so much "hated" PoE2 vision has more players than so much praised Last Epoch (D3). Weird times to live in, seems like PoE2 vision (classic oldschool ARPG) was a better idea than turning it into another mindless arcade filled with "participation trophies".
They moved to Last Epoch for 2 big reasons:
1) Frustration with POE 2
2) Hype ( Hype sells; Hype makes players overreact )

Once GGG will deploy their next mid Patch a lot of them will return to POE 2 and forget about LE. We seen this in the past actually!
Interesting that some people discount the Steam numbers now, after crowing about them back in December.

Of course the Steam numbers aren't the complete picture; however, they are the only real set of statistics we have to work with. And all else being equal (proportion of players within that sample), the numbers for PoE Deuce aren't looking good. Will those numbers recover any time soon? Perhaps, to some degree.

I will be interested to see what the coming weekend's numbers look like. Because Last Epoch isn't the only "new" game in town; there's also the Elder Scrolls Oblivion remaster, which has the potential to fix the attention of fans of the game for rather a good bit longer than LE. =^[.]^=

PoE 1 has been getting worse for years with only a couple decent leagues. PoE 2 is a terrible game that sold off of PoE 1 hype. Same way D3 was stronger than D2 because of the hype. D3 & D4 have been garbage.

PoE 2 is garbage. LE has always been good. LE also has way better MTX that doesn't cost a fortune for digital items.

GGG is a bunch of scumbags. Always have been.

The thing is man, nobody outside of GGG or Tencent actually has any work to do with these numbers. Nobody on these forums is "working" with this data - they're just using them to argue with each other about who knows best what the community of PoE2 players wants from the game.

But, regardless of which side is "right" on any given day (it's usually neither if you're curious), the only power to actually do anything about any of it rests with GGG and they have far more data than any of us ever of us could ever dream and a team of experienced data scientists whose entire job it is to analyze every bit and byte of data we send their way to figure out what makes us tick (or tock).

None of us are ever going to look at the incomplete data we have and come to some conclusion that helps GGG make the game better -- because whatever data you think you have, they had it days or weeks before you did and with a lot more detail and I promise you they don't need your help to figure out what it means.

They don't have to argue or speculate or guess about the things we do. They know exactly how many negative reviews came in on 0.2 from accounts with very few hours played, or how many positive reviews came in on 0.1 with very few hours played. They know how many players reviewed the game positively and then stopped playing, or how many reviewed it negatively but continued to play for 6+ hours a day. They can look at the last thing that happened to you before you logged off for the day and get an idea of what makes people "call it for the night." They can look at what happens on the evenings when people have unusually long sessions to see what makes people "stick around for one more map." They can even look at what happened to people in the hours leading up to a MTX purchase to see what makes people feel so good about the game that they're willing to support them financially.

When GGG talks about using "player feedback" during Early Access to tune and balance the game, they're not really talking about these forums, or reddit, or even YouTubers or streamers. They do care about all of those sources and they pay attention to them, but compared to the wealth of information they are gathering from just watching us play it all becomes trivial - just like the arguments on this forum.

If you really want to know more about the "complete picture" then my advice is to just pay attention to what GGG is doing. If they're making decisions that don't seem consistent with what you think players want, that probably means that what players are doing is indicating that your assumptions about what they want might not be as accurate as you think.

So, it's now almost Monday of the following week. I think PoE Deuce briefly hit 100k players on Steam this weekend, with daily averages significantly lower than that.

I don't see those numbers getting any better by this point next week. ='[.]'=
