Its amazing that so many players switched to last Epoch

Today, LE only had 1000 more people at the time than POE2 - people are slowly leaving LE. I have observed this at the same time over the last week and the number of players in LE are going down.

Of course the Steam numbers aren't the complete picture; however, they are the only real set of statistics we have to work with.

The thing is man, nobody outside of GGG or Tencent actually has any work to do with these numbers. Nobody on these forums is "working" with this data - they're just using them to argue with each other about who knows best what the community of PoE2 players wants from the game.

But, regardless of which side is "right" on any given day (it's usually neither if you're curious), the only power to actually do anything about any of it rests with GGG and they have far more data than any of us ever of us could ever dream and a team of experienced data scientists whose entire job it is to analyze every bit and byte of data we send their way to figure out what makes us tick (or tock).

None of us are ever going to look at the incomplete data we have and come to some conclusion that helps GGG make the game better -- because whatever data you think you have, they had it days or weeks before you did and with a lot more detail and I promise you they don't need your help to figure out what it means.

They don't have to argue or speculate or guess about the things we do. They know exactly how many negative reviews came in on 0.2 from accounts with very few hours played, or how many positive reviews came in on 0.1 with very few hours played. They know how many players reviewed the game positively and then stopped playing, or how many reviewed it negatively but continued to play for 6+ hours a day. They can look at the last thing that happened to you before you logged off for the day and get an idea of what makes people "call it for the night." They can look at what happens on the evenings when people have unusually long sessions to see what makes people "stick around for one more map." They can even look at what happened to people in the hours leading up to a MTX purchase to see what makes people feel so good about the game that they're willing to support them financially.

When GGG talks about using "player feedback" during Early Access to tune and balance the game, they're not really talking about these forums, or reddit, or even YouTubers or streamers. They do care about all of those sources and they pay attention to them, but compared to the wealth of information they are gathering from just watching us play it all becomes trivial - just like the arguments on this forum.

If you really want to know more about the "complete picture" then my advice is to just pay attention to what GGG is doing. If they're making decisions that don't seem consistent with what you think players want, that probably means that what players are doing is indicating that your assumptions about what they want might not be as accurate as you think.

then why poe 2 bad if they re so smart. i thought they gathered a ton of information with ruthless poe 1.

well considering im locked out 2 characters now which i spent 500 hours on. ill be switching to lost epoch too. theirs no good way to get help for issues in this game. i cant login to these 2 characters because of an issue/bug with the game. and its mind boggling how these problems are not addressed asap. so yeah don't be surprised if poe2 keeps losing its player base in this early access version of a game. The help side of this game needs work for the bugs and issues in game.

I ve tried LE - 4h in game and i didnt get it at all. Just faceroll on keyboard throgh loot piniatas.

Zero fun for me,zero challenge. Yeah loot, loot is everywhere, but soooo boring

But i dont like POE1 either,so maybe just not my type of the arpg
It's Friday night here on the US east coast, and PoE Deuce's Steam numbers dropped 20k since this afternoon, 22K off the 24hr peak. Gonna be an interesting weekend. =^[.]^=

I switched to Last Epoch... for about a week or so. It was fun, but I was glad to come back to an ARPG where I often have to pay attention to mob types and positioning. Normal enemies in LE are basically just visual clutter most of the time, just grass to your lawn mower. They can't even body block you.

The one thing I want GGG to take some inspiration from is Legendary Potential. Specifically the way that LP3 and LP4 can occasionally make mid-tier uniques into busted items worth building around. (I like the impact of LP1 a lot less since it's so common.)
How is last epoch doing then? Oh, nosediving to less than 10k concurrent? Yeah, nothing new.

Maybe in a year's time when they release their next update they can get some streamers to hype their shallow game up again.

Let's see how many cycles they can keep it up for, d4 is on its last legs already. This is what frontloading character power coupled with making your game absolutely trivial does to retention and some of you think it's a good development idea. Good grief...
Poe/poe2 Will never have true rivals. D4 and LE are nice, for a hot second or for a day after an event starts... But poe/poe2 is ever growing and expanding. One tweak/update in this game can completely change the way players build and grow.

With the update to loot, I played for hours yesterday and was as happy as I was playing regular PoE. It finally feels rewarding and worthwhile.

D4, you go in, your build is pretty much pigeonholed into 1 skill per class and you're forced to farm for sets for that one skill...
Then you have poe2 where the road has 900 paths less traveled. You can pretty much make anything work with a little time. :)
