PoE2 has always had a confused direction.. sadly. What should you do about it?

As such, it is more then clear to me what the direction of PoE2 should be about and what they should do about it moving forward. And let me tell you this much, it is not about making PoE2 into a PoE1 copy...
It is, tho.

Ppl didn't support GGG for many years to make a game that's not "Path of Exile".
If they want to make "Game that has Path of Exile in name but barely anything to do with it", then they should market this idea and try to get support for it, and not take ppls support for "Actually Path of Exile", only to change their mind for their own "vision".

I'm pretty sure people have supported GGG for PoE1 and nothing else for the majority of the game's lifetime and also just for personal gain.. because let's be honest.. people enjoy the bling. Aside from that, I don't believe you were ever pitched the idea for PoE2 and asked to support it specifically. So if anyone did so, that's on them.

Now if you feel that they didn't respect your support towards PoE1 itself, that's a different story. and here you really have two choices... complain about it on the PoE1 forums and/or never support them again.

However... as far as I'm aware.. PoE1 is regarded as the best ARPG ever by the people that have supported it heavily so far, such as yourself, so that means they must have more then met your expectations relative to your support... up to settlers league, at least.

Supporter packs are *drumroll* to support the development and include stuff for ppl as a thanks for doing so.
What was "pitched" is "PoE1 will get an expansion called PoE2, which will update the over 10-year-old game to modern standards yadda yadda", and that was advertised for 4 years, to get the community's support.
That's how their funding is built. They "pitch" something we are willing to support. The end.

Were you sold a pre-purchase 4 years ago for PoE2? Did they put up a gofund me specifically for PoE2? No. They just showed you a teaser for a project and that's about it. A project that they weren't even sure themselves what to do with exactly as well. Again, if you chose to believe you were supporting them for that part, that's on you.

Besides, even if you believe you were the subject of wrongdoing from GGG.. that's irrelevant to the current topic.

The main topics here are as follows: The vague direction of PoE2 and about the parts of PoE2 that brought a successful launch, parts which had little to do with PoE1.

This "successful launch" would have never even happened were it not for the community buying thousands of $ worth of supporter packs because they expected 4.0

PoE 2 has the privilege of being created only because PoE 1 rose to greatness and was shaped by its community through countless feedback.

What we have here is people who feel scammed by PoE 2, rightfully so.

Dude... the entire monetisation model of GGG is a "go fund me"...

And no, it was not marketed as "we as well don't know what to do with it (PoE2)".

You brought up the "PoE2 should not become PoE1" and I responded to it, thus it's part of the topic.

The game has two halves which do not mesh well with each other - weak player character vs strong enemies. They should either rework characters and make them strong or reduce the danger of the enemies to make the weak character make sense.

I especially like that the enemies are stronger than in your typical ARPG. Makes the game better than the competition, imo.

If you haven't learnt by now to temper your expectations in the gaming industry idk what to tell you. Again, it's on you. You never bought a specific pack that said "this is for PoE 4.0." where you got absolutely nothing for it other then a promise. You always received goodies for what you spent in PoE1.. your fave perfect game. And again, if they disappointed you, just stop supporting them. That's all there is to it.

Surely there are other companies or games you can support, right? If GGG has fallen off for you. Surely your lives don't revolve around GGG's games... right? If not, then don't support any... all the better for you.

I expressed my opinion towards what their goal should be moving forward, relative to the success the launch of PoE2 had and more specifically what brought its success. I personally think they would be complete fools to ignore that. But it's up to them in the end.

If you think they should ignore that success and proceed with the old for the sake of disgruntled PoE1 supporters, you should probably make your own thread about it.

What brought them success in my opinion was the presentation of the game and the marketing strategy of frequent communication. Now it doesn't really matter that much if there is a player decline. What matters now is that the quality of the product will be improved over time with the money they got from the launch which hopefully will result in a healthy community and players coming back when the game is finished for launch. Then GGG can make more money with ingame-purchases from long-term players which is what the company is probably aiming for anyway. This will grant them to keep their jobs and keep working on the product and maybe more products in the future.
