PoE2 has always had a confused direction.. sadly. What should you do about it?
PoE 1 was more that they lost control of balance and enemy density then ended up creating a split community which thrived on that and wouldn't accept anything else.
PoE2 is worse. They copy systems from PoE1 without knowing why they were there. Why do we have Energy Shield in PoE2? ES was created as a tangent of Mana Shield because of the mana reservation system they created which was never good. That's not a thing in PoE2 so why is ES in the game when Mana Shield can perform it's role properly? STR gives + HP. INT gives +Mana with set level gains. PoE2 has some of the dumbest mechanical designs I've ever seen in an ARPG. ...and I've played the genre since Diablo 1 beta. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

i support GGG but will i buy a supporter pack and put some food in their mouths. no
you did, well that was dumb. you should have known that supporting them was not in your best interest. poe1 word of mouth sold poe2. the people who paid for the supporter packs paid for its development. to ignore them would be a horrible business strategy. esp when the people who are like poe2 is something very special, but not special enough to actually support outside of some general praise. |

" Problem is, the current community is extremely toxic. And they do rely on the current community for feedback. But their feedback is often disingenuous or biased towards PoE1. "Sigh"

"You know, positive toxicity is a thing too. [Removed by Support]

" All you're doing is shilling and defending GGG while at the same time telling the players its "their fault they got scammed". 4.0 expansion was promised to us, and then they changed their mind because they wanted to make it a seperate game. These are just facts. And then people got worried when they saw trailers of PoE 2 and now we can all see its just Ruthless 2.0, and that's why so many people are unhappy about the direction of the game. They were promised one thing, but then got bait 'n switched. It is what it is, I'm just waiting for 3.26 and the events they're gonna announce next week lmao |

" Shilling? Defending? Hah.. that's funny. You should probably check other threads I've made to see how much of a shill I am. Nobody promised you anything, show me where they used the word promise anywhere and I will admit I was wrong. They didn't promise me anything either. If PoE2 ends up being a clone of PoE1 with better graphics, I will just be disappointed and move on. They would have achieved at least one thing if nothing else, they showed that there are a lot of people that want the gameplay and combat of ARPG's to evolve. If they won't seize the opportunity, someone else will eventually. "Sigh"

To be fair, I think that it's inevitable that releasing a sequel that does two things:
1. Attempts to make Path of Exile more accessible 2. Attempts to completely reinvent the gameplay of Path of Exile ... is a great way to completely alienate your fanbase. You can try to prepare them as much as you want by saying "it's gonna be very different to POE1" but it still means that your fanbase, is probably going to be disappointed and you're going to lose those long-term fans. It's like if the people who made John Wick released John Wick 6 and it's a romantic comedy. Even if in the marketing you tell everyone 'its a bit of a different film' then people who want to see action and stunts is going to go watch that movie, be very disappointed, and give it a bad review. So it's like. Well okay, if you really want to make a completely different movie or game in this case that badly, that's fine. People are still going to be mad, though. |

Another mechanics discussion thread that gets derailed with a debate on player expectations being different. This is a pre-requisite organisational obstacle to overcome before we can hold a civil discussion. It's a valid topic to talk about, many people want to talk about it, but if it's allowed to strangle too many threads that want to talk about something else, we're getting nowhere.
