Ignoring your attitude, let's see what data another Mon-keigh has to offer.

PoE2 patch 0.1
Day 01 - 460k
Day 07 - 447k
That's 98% still playing after one week.

Day 01 - 460k
Day 14 - 385k
That's 84% still playing after two weeks.

Day 01 - 460k
Day 21 - 350k
That's 76% still playing after three weeks.

PoE2 patch 0.2
Day 01 - 238k
Day 07 - 185k
That's 78% still playing after one week.

Day 01 - 238k
Day 14 - 122k
That's 51% still playing after two weeks.

Day 01 - 238k
Day 21 - 78k
That's 32% still playing after three weeks.

Patch 0.2 lost in 1 week the same percentage of players as 0.1 in 3 weeks (+/- 2%).

PoE2 0.1 580k peak compared to PoE2 0.2 246k peak, that's only 42% returning from one patch to another.

Now, keep in mind. One of the goals with PoE2 was to retain more players with "More accessibility". And while a player drop is totally normal for games like this, especially PoE, such a downward trend is not:


First of all, thanks for providing this information.

Second of all, this doesn't prove the patch is responsible for the decline of players. But that there is a correlation between the time the patch was released and a decline of players. Correlation does not mean causality.

And third and most importantly, to me the interpretation could be as follows: maybe there was a stronger decline of players at that point in time, because the streamers (influencers) repeatedly said the patch was bad, PoE 2 was unfun, the game sucked, the vision was trash and such things. Maybe it's not the patch that was at fault, but the people claiming that the patch was bad, who caused the decline, which is actually my main point. And you just provided me data as evidence for it.

Now, if I was GGG, I'd maybe even sue the streamers for spreading misinformation causing a potential loss of financial income, seeing it might've been sabotage through misinformation. But that's just me. I probably wouldn't do it though, because it seems like there was a decline that has been going on, before the patch and before the streamers uni sono claimed that the game was unfun. You could make the point that they contributed to the decline by spreading false information, but maybe not that they caused it.

It was a mix of the patch being awful and the streamer manufactured opinions on the game. They got everybody all hyped up over the latest additions to the game, then those additions were not nearly as impactful as the 50 pages of nerfs they didn't even really mention at all, so people were hugely disappointed. Also a lot of struggling to get through the campaign and people quitting before getting to endgame. But the streamer culture absolutely had an impact as well, and obviously GGG knows this or they wouldn't be doing interviews with them.
Whether it was streamers or not . The patch is still horrible .
Wisps suck , loot sucks , towers still suck , builds still stuck , monsters still suck , oneshots still suck , crafting still sucks .

Other than nerfs and wisp meme did it bring any content at all ?

I would not be doing interviews with people anymore who spread misinfromation about my game. But that's just me.

Just another reminder, Ziz had a thumbnail literally claiming: "Everybody is mad at PoE2". That's misinformation right there.

Wisps suck, loot is OK, towers suck, builds still suck.

As for the others, the core design of each individual monster is pretty awesome in this game, with a few annoying exceptions. I hope that GGG sits down and hashes out what modifiers can appear where, so we stop seeing these kind of ridiculous combinations that make rare monsters more difficult and annoying than bosses. things like mana siphon, volatile plants, and proximal tangibility on the same enemy.

One shots are a thing that generally happens when you dont have enough life for the content you are doing, so really i just hope they add some life nodes to the passive tree and stop making it borderline mandatory to use energy shield even if you are on the wrong side of the tree for it.

Crafting.. meh.. I liked diablo II better than POE1 and i think it shouldn't be that easy to get everything you want.
