After watching a review about Jonathan latest interview, I have to give you my feedback.

+1 To the post!

PoE 2 obviously wanted to take a step forward, but it's old brother (PoE 1) is still holding the hand too hard, not wanting to let go.

There is no other way. The young one needs to go to the world, explore, test, develop and has it's own life full of amazing things.
It can no longer keep being stuck with it's old brother PoE 1, who just wants instant gratification, shitloads of loot and uncapped speed of anything to just get that dopamine rush every 5sec... The world is changing, time to let this go.

Keep your vision GGG! You nailed it with PoE 2 on launch. Don't turn away.. the game has already became too easy and meaningless with 1-button clearing.

It's PoE and should be PoE.

If it keep trying to force The Vision, it will die with 50k players on week 2 in 0.3. Because absolute minority wants "strategic gameplay", most people want to clear screens with 1 click and one shot the boss. No one wants The Vision and it's pretty clear with player numbers.

In my view, this is a fatal mistake. If PoE 1 and PoE 2 are too similar, over time the playerbase will predominantly opt for one of the two. The other will become the little brother and sooner or later disappear into oblivion anyway.

A well-balanced PoE 2 that is clearly but not completely different from PoE may not appeal to some/possibly even many PoE 1 players. However, it is a unique opportunity to build a second community of sorts.

And of course there would be players who can enjoy both. But that's just my opinion, of course.

If PoE 2 becomes too much like PoE 1, you might as well just reduce the frequency of Leagues in PoE 1 to every two months. Perfect, right?

You do realise that what you just said and GGG´s business modell is mutually exclusive right?

The past decade plus has shown that they will never be able to introduce new stuff AND catch all the broken builds prior to launch.
The players have greater numbers, more time and more expierence at finding those broken builds and they will find them. The only 2 questions are: When do they find them and are they going to make their discovery public.

If those builds do go public then most likely a critical mass of players will pivot towards those builds, leaving everyone else in the dust and players left behind will ask themselves why on earth are they even playing their builds and either leave or pivot as well or complain and demand nerfs for basically everything leaving them in the dust.


The only way this game can ever be balanced and more importantly stay balanced is by never adding anything substantial to it. And we know thats not how GGG operates.

The sooner everyone embraces this fact the better, cuz there is a decade plus history of hard evidence supporting my claim.

Overall I'm also hoping that they leave most of the zoom one click clear stuff to PoE 1 and keep PoE 2 focused on more in depth play by play gameplay. Like obviously if I min-max my build enough I should be able to clear maps in a click or two, but that should require me going out of my way to accomplish, not just something that naturally happens as I hit "maps".

imagine if there was a series of fantasy games that all had completely different storylines and settings, and they were wildly successful, and there were about 15 of them and they all had the same name. That would be pretty weird right.


What game are you referencing? This is pure Fantasy.

I'm not sure if you're intentionally misunderstanding that.
Jonathan mentioned that they want to move away from forced skill gem combinations, back to skill gems that work on its own and people have to come up with their own combinations.

This is TERRIBLE for the game because it indicates powercreep more than anything else.

What you said is completely unrelated and has nothing to do with the topic. Sure I gave examples, but only to illustrate that the change of direction they are suddenly planning is more than wrong in my eyes.
