New 0.3 trade: all the same [Removed by Support] for twice the $ price

Keeping two parallel Premium/Merchant tabs economies is the worst possible way they could've gone for offline trading.

They left to bad actors an option to keep doing all the same[Removed by Support], that makes you hate the game, so they will just keep doing that, since it's more profitable. No issue is resolved:
- littering first 10 screens of all the searches with 1 ex items and never trading? Check
- inability to know an actual price of any item? Check
- selfish time-wasters using trade website to pricecheck up from 1 ex with no intention of trading?
- price fixing? Check
- mass scamming? Check
- beggars "hi, I want to buy X for 50 divs", you tp out, load, wait, "offer 5 div"? Check
- spend hours on trade site with 1000 other snipers to get good price or suffer from FOMO? Check
- children using trade site for bragging about their last drop with fake price? Check
Check, check, check all the same abysmal experience you've had with the game all over again now in POE2 forever.

And any objections that "people will just completely move to Merchant tab economy out of collective common sense and solidarity" are BS, because the same item in Premium tab economy search will cost drastically less than in Merchant tab economy due to nature of the two. You can say to yourself "I'll just only search for actual real offers on Merchant tab economy and problem solved", but the reality is that overwhelming majority of the players will be baited with lower prices and much wider selection into using both economies, which will put you at huge disadvantage if you're trying to limit yourself to Merchant tabs economy only.

-----------

And once you're baited in, this is your trade experience now:
Every time you're about to log out, you manually take all of your items one by one, one inventory at the time and move them from your Premium tabs to your Merchant tabs. Next you need to set new prices for all the items, since you've set them at much lower Premium tabs economy market prices before (and you're price checking them up from 0 here), and they all are much more expensive in Merchant tab economy market (so you're price checking them down from infinity here).
You have no way of remembering price "check up" vs price "check down" for every items you've set up on previous log in, so now you're manually writing it all down in the Excel document and constantly referring to and editing this document while setting new prices for hundreds of items.

Every time you're log in, you need to do it all over again in reverse, since now when you're online you much more likely to actually sell something in Premium tabs economy prices, where you have an option to change your mind about the sell after an offer/offers and re-list it at higher price when it looks like it worth more than you thought.

So basically you get all [Removed by Support] from old trade system while you're online, and additionally your trade became an exhausting chore every time your go on/offline for a small chance of rare offline trade.
You of course can slack on some of it, don't keep the exact price records in a doc, only move back and forth the most expensive items or forego the moving completely or limit in to once a day when you go to sleep, but it comes at a cost of FOMO, since now you're not trading optimally and efficiently in an open competitive market, so there goes your enjoyment from the game.

-----------

And of course, this means that effectively $ "price" of POE2 just (not quite) doubled. You felt comfortably with 100$ worth of trade Premium tabs in 0.2? Now you need to mirror every Premium trade tab with another 100$ of Merchant tabs for an exhausting privilege of being able to move items back and forth between them every time you log in/out. And of course you can't just change your tabs from Premium to Merchant and back on the fly (it can only be done once, only for "legacy" tabs and cannot be reverted).
So your options are either:
- effectively pay for all of your already bought trading tabs again
- convert half the trade tabs and basically being robbed of half the comfort and trade space you bought
- don't pay and convert all\convert non of your trade tabs and get an open market disadvantage on every other player who now sells for more and faster than you -> buys more upgrades than you -> uses those upgrades to drop more loot than you -> sells faster then you -> loop to infinity

-----------

Overall, it's of course extremely exciting to see them taking a step to fix the absolute worst detriment to POE2 experience - its trading system. Literally the best news that could've been for the patch. But the direction they took with two parallel economies is very worrisome.
For now it seems like classic tragedy of the commons, where entire community would benefit immensely if we all would agree to convert all tabs and never put a single item on a Premium tab market. But one single person to break the pact would gain profit from it at the expense of all the others, so everyone will end up breaking it and we're back to 0.

But seriously, still don't convert ALL the Premium tabs, since with gold costs at 16000 for unique from the reveal video, Merchant tabs market looks like it might be flat out dead at least during campaign, if not until high maps.

I believe that is the first "wall-o'-text" post I've ever seen actually worth reading in its entirety.

Nicely done, examining the potential ramifications and consequences of this new trading method. Now we'll have to see how it all shakes out. ='[.]'=

You will (maybe) have the option to only list "instant buyout" items on the trade site.
Problem solved.

GGG P2W is Coming...
Why would someone list an item in the old system for cheaper if it sells in the new system for more with less effort? And if that price difference does exist, it should get eliminated by people who are looking to make a profit by buying in the cheap system and relisting in the expensive system. Prices will harmonize.
The tabs essentially function as premium tabs do now, except players can just take stuff and leave the currency for it. It won't cost more to buy from, it will probably end up like the currency exchange and cost less since all of the listings will be pseudo "always online" and instant trade, the market will equalize much faster than regular trade does, and price fixing will be impossible (because you can't just leave an item listed and not sell it).

The gold cost is there to stop people from sitting in their hideouts trading instead of playing the game, and to add a bit of weight to trades. If it wasn't there, then you would have to worry about trade. As long as the gold cost is high enough it's gonna be fine.

I am kind of amazed that you found a way to complain about it, I would be more impressed if it actually made any sense.

I don't understand the decision to create a system that still relies on an external website instead of having all functionality built into the game.

Just make it an Auction House.
