thats pretty much it. i wonder how many threads like "i'm done with the league because i lost 100 div due to wrong pricing" we will get

Think about what you are saying. Do you think a player trading an item worth 100div has not traded before? Just as the item can be sold instantly, so can the listings for items sold in merchants be updated. The price set by others selling from merchants will be correct. If anything, there would be less of that going on.

"
•Items are sold instantly, so if you are pricing your item by looking at merchant listings it will be the correct price, price fixing is impossible if players cannot purposely keep an item listed and not sell it.

•Since the sales are instant and the listings are always online, the market will equalize much faster than regular trade does. Meaning the prices will also be more competitive, and usually a little cheaper, much like the currency exchange.

Anyone who's hailing the changes as "saving trade" is huffing so much copium they should be floating in the stratosphere.

The reality is nothing will change other than bots now being able to snipe badly priced items to be resold for massive profit later when their masters relist them and that is not worth celebrating in the slightest.

Oh and of course, GGG wanting money for new trade tab is sad and greedy, selling a "solution" to a problem they created is very scummy indeed.

Ok but the problems for me have been:

Too much hassle selling my items (having to be online and in my hideout, waiting for people, or even sometimes waiting for people just so they can finally show up and try to scam me)

Trying to buy items from players who dont respond (for different reasons)

Trying to check what price an item is selling for only to have endless pages of price fixers listing items that arent actually for sale.

And for me the changes they have made will fix all my problems with trading.

So which part for me is copium?
Literally every single complaint about trade in the game's entire history - both games' entire history - has been from people who just want free and unlimited access to every single item in the game permanently forever at all times, and for zero cost. They will continue to snarl and kvetch and complain and yell and protest and everything else until and unless they get an in-game item editor that simply gives them precisely what they want to mindlessly follow the latest Streamer Meme.

This new trade system will make it largely impossible for anyone but the Blessed Thousand at the tippy-top of the game - those scant handful of folks who make thousands of divs every day and who completely and utterly dictate the entirety of the game's economy - to make any sort of sale, at all. And even just those folk who rarely sell and simply try to buy items with dropped currency (i.e. folks like myself) will be priced entirely into pseudo-SSF within a few hours of the league dropping due to market ultrasaturation followed by complete market collapse.

Thanks, Trade Complainers. Really appreciate y'all turning this into the "Everybody Plays SSF Whether They Want To Or Not" league.

There is a perfectly good reason to hate this new trade system, but this wall of text ain't it Chief.

Here, I'll help you out in just five words:

It is pay to win.

Directly tying players' capacity for turning rare/unique items into currency while mapping or offline to the number of stash tabs they've purchased is a pretty big damn problem, and it made me realize that I just became a SSF player for life.

You make a good point. But wasn't this already the case with Premium Stash Tabs and old-style trade? =0[.]o=

this was the case with basic extra stash tabs way back, they are just pushing the envelope further. boiling frogs or w/e
The ideal scenario would be that instantly any trade tabs are turned into instant buyout tabs. All the items we currently have in our trade tabs are instant buyout, and any future items we put in our tabs are instant buyout.

Structuring the trade around two different systems seems like a very silly idea, and overly complicated.

I don't get why it can't just be as straightforward as, you put an item up for sale, anyone can buy it at any time. The rest will figure itself out.

I'm glad there's some attempt to solve the trade issue but jeez, what an odd roundabout way to implement it.
From what I gather the main pushback I see against this essentially comes down to: "I don't think I will be able to profit anymore."
To be frank. If you could profit on the old system you can still profit from this one.

That is not a fear I have. Even if it was, I would still welcome this new system. Spamming people with messages to try to get something is the single worst part of the game. I've wasted far too much time spamming trade messages. By the time I actually do get a trade I'm far too annoyed to check out the hideout, or socialize. Transforming that into a potentially fun "Garage sale" experience is cool. It is my hope that the new trade system kills off the old one, full stop.

As a buyer, I will simply refuse to go back to the old ways. The convivence far FAR outweighs any problem this new trade system could possibly add.
As a seller, same thing. I'm glad that I won't get spammed with trade requests anymore. Its also cool that I can essentially play a "real" Recettear.

(For both buying and selling, I am pretty casual. Not surprising considering how much both systems PISS me off.)

The actual big issue I see with this is maybe some kinda hardcore exploit. Where you can click a "Buy item" button in a shop to instantly teleport out of danger.

Agree with you here and it‘s what I expected to happen honestly. The new system is cool for showing of your hideout to others, if that’s something you care about, but other than that I don’t see why they wouldn’t just allow instand buyouts just from premium stash tabs. Maybe it‘s intended friction, or money, or something else, but from a player perspective pretty strange.

It isn't really about profit, at least not for me. I freely admit I'm a low-tier schlub that barely sells stuff. It's more the idea that this completely no-brakes-all-go "economy" is going to make it completely impossible for anyone who isn't a Super Elite to actually get any gear. Market hypersaturation leads to total collapse, means all gear is either vendor-fodder garbage priced in Wis scrolls, or Anything Else price in hundreds to thousands of divines.

There will be absolutely no Five Exalt Market anymore for regular players trying to make modest trades to get better mid-level mapping gear or anything else - it's either players putting literally everything they find on the ground into a trade tab for "fReE cUrReNcY!!1!" or players pricing what might have been a five or ten exalt item at 50+ divines because oversaturation allows them to drive the price of even just modestly good gear through the roof.

So...we all get to play SSF. Whether we want to or not.

Where are you getting this theory from?

Nothing of this even remotely makes logical sense.

The ease of access is more likely to mean more items being sold, which will result in lower prices, not higher.

And someone who normally mightve not been bothered to list beginner gear for five exalts is now much more likely to since it requires no time investment from them.

Normally if I found an item off the ground that was worth 5 exalt, I would literally never in a million year sell it, because it simply isnt worth my time to leave my map, go to my hideout, open trade, for 5 exalt.
That item would be deleted and lost to the void.
Now this is no longer an issue. Which obviously means more items available for you to purchase.

Everything your trying to explain works opposite from how your explaining it.
