POE2 Is Crashing My Network

Does it happen consistently after playing for the same amount of time or is it random? What if you login and hang out in town doing nothing or sitting at the character selection screen?

Have you tried anything like connecting to a different server or using another computer? I doubt using another computer would change anything, but who knows. Just thinking of ways to troubleshoot.

How about Wireshark. Are you familiar with that to inspect your network traffic?

Sorry for the barrage of questions. My curiosity can't resist trying to solve a weird problem.

You could try contacting support. They might direct you to their General Troubleshooting Guide. So, I'd maybe look through that first.

Only got to town once, now I can barely get off the beach. It always happens within 10m of playing. Time to go from beach to miller.

I dont have another computer that can play POE2. I am using an Alienware m18r2 so not a slow machine.

That's an interesting one!

What do you mean it crashes your cable modem? Does it lock up? Restart? Something else?

After I play for a few minutes it resets my connection. I asked my ISP and they said that they had no idea what was going on but it looked like I was offline when I was online.

Now I have been a programmer for 42 years and I run a team of software engineers. I have suspicions. That the game is triggering DDOS warnings and lockdowns on my IP.

This has been a topic for years. Don't think it will ever get fixed.
Dont have the problem with POE1

Lockstep Auto
I just played 4 maps without a hivcup in poe1. Went to poe2 and it crashed my network within 10m. My arris docsis modem went offline.

Hmm, I'm not sure. I had an identical issue in POE1 and POE2, although far more prevalent in POE2 where it would disconnect my modem until it was manually rebooted. My rudimentary(at best) understanding of the modem logs was some sort of ddos protection triggering, as if it was under attack. ISP was initially useless but after bugging them multiple times eventually they eventually transferred me to someone helpful. He updated my modem's bootfile and I thought it fixed it but a few days later it appeared again. After talking to him again, he said to "give him a few hours" and about six hours later the problem was completely gone. I have absolutely no idea what he did on his end, but whatever it was fixed it. That did nothing to solve the insane network spikes I still see in this game though, but at least the internet doesn't crash anymore.
This is happening to me as well..

i am a small content creator and as of this league,

My ENTIRE internet crashes randomly while playing poe 2 + streaming...

Did not happen last league or before..

PC is on the higher end and not the issue... and it only happens when playing PoE 2!!

Any solutions or atleast acknowledgement?

Here is the log of entries in my cable modem. There is a profile instability that only occurs when I am playing POE2. Anti-cheat software? Something weird is going on.

Hi, I can actually detail your issue for you!

This log implies an unstable signal indicative of a weak or noisy coaxial cable. Specifically, it's showing upstream power issues, basically it had to "Shout louder than normal" to get through the noise to your ISP.

Games like PoE2 send a lot of info upstream, things like position, enemies, loot events and so on. While the game itself isn't likely to actually cause an issue like yours, it can reveal certain weaknesses that are already present due to the nature of its upstream intensity.

This points to your UPLOAD PATH being the weak link in this instance, and can be caused commonly by:

- damaged cable, loose connection, splitter, or bad line outside

- temporary issues at your ISP’s end (upstream noise, maintenance)

- thermal stress (an already hot modem gets even hotter and goes funky when upstream traffic is introduced)

- local interference (running the game might be coinciding with something else like GPU/PC drawing more power and introducing noise into the coax if grounding is poor)

You can send your ISP something along the lines of:

" Hi, I’m experiencing repeated internet disconnections after about 5–10 minutes when running online games like Path of Exile 2.

I checked my modem logs, and I’m seeing repeated T3 timeouts and messages about excess upstream power levels. The modem is reporting that it has to raise its transmit power above normal, and it’s not getting responses back from the ISP equipment.

This looks like an upstream signal issue, not a device or Wi-Fi problem. I’ve already:

- Checked and tightened all coax connections

- Bypassed any splitters

- Ensured the modem has good ventilation

Could you please check the signal levels on my line, especially the upstream path, and see if there’s noise or low return power? If needed, can a technician come out to inspect the line and connectors? "

Of course, after doing all the checks first! That should solve the issue for you, or at the very least isolate it!
