The -60% penalty and subsequently inflated elemental resistance values are bad for the game.
" Yes if the -60% resistance penalty is removed then resistance mods on gear would have to be reduced by ~40%; making the values very similar to chaos resistance values. An actually quite simple change that would be easy to implement alongside a future league launch. Последняя редакция: LVSviral#3689. Время: 9 сент. 2025 г., 22:05:39

Bump.

I completely agree. The only thing the resistance penalty is good for is making a large number of the dropped items useless because you essentially need resistances on EVERY piece of equipment but way too few of them have enough or any at all because there are so many mods and most of them aren't as important most of the time...

Casting bump...

As someone who hates the "bigger numbers at all costs" mentality of modern gaming, I disagree.
Invest in your defense or accept the consequences that comes with that choice. And remember, you can't dps if you're dead. |

Yeah, the resistance penalty is absolutely horrible, and it's getting infuriating.
I have enough trouble get the gear I WANT, let alone usable gear with any elemental resistance and the stats and the other modifiers I want. |

I think the only reason this exists is to sort of direct new players to their gear slots. Players completely new to ARPG's who don't know that you can easily change gear and what modifiers can appear on items.

I dont see a big problem here. It's really easy to max them out, especially with the new market system. You always find a piece of gear for a few exalts that give you triple res with still enough armour/Eva/ES.

" It makes a large portion of gear drops practically useless by default, just like shoes without speed modifiers. By the end you need on average between 37 and 55% resistances on each piece of armour and jewellry (depending on the char and how many rune slots you use), so any item without at least 2 resistance mods is trash. Yes, of course you can trade for better gear, but I'd prefer it if I could just upgrade using what I find, especially during campaign. |

If they remove this elemental penalty, they would lower the amount gained by tier/skill tree & others effect. In the end, it would change nothing in the end game as you would still need the same exact number of elemental resist affix to cap them (it isn't optional like Chaos Resist feel).
But it would change how capping resist in the campaign would feel. Basically, you couldn't as you don't have access to the highest tier affix. This inflation is basically for the early game. It allow you to cap those resist even with lower tier elemental resist affix. So no, it isn't an "outdated" feature just an easier way to balance resist between early game & end game.
