For people having FPS-Issues
EDIT as of 11.09.2025 - the BEST solution yet (atleast for nVidia users) is to enable Resizeable bar (Clever Access Memory) in your BIOS / GPU control panel. Most of the modern systems can just activate this and you are good to go. For some reason it seems that the default for this feature is/was set to disabled in latest drivers.
I followed along this video to setup my Rig: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DqcgHtkm9I Share your experience here if it helped you if ReBAR was not enabled for your system before. ----- For the past few days, I've constantly been having significant FPS drops, especially when I run into Abyss packed Areas. I tried something that was shared on Reddit around 9 month ago - must've been around the date of release. Credit goes to "GrimExile" on Reddit. If you do have issues (CPU heating up over 85-90 degrees celsius, Shader constantly having a full bar in the performance details, stutter or even 20 second freezes) the below solutions could help you. !!! Use them at your own discretion !!! First of all - enable the performance graph In Options, under Graphics tab, make sure you have Graph Details set to "All Graphs". In the performance graph in the top right, keep an eye on the "Shader" graph. If you see it spiking up and down when you run into a pack, the following might help. Clearing out Shader Cache Navigate to %APPDATA%/Path of Exile 2/. You should see one or more folders starting with "ShaderCache" followed by either Vulkan or DirectX3D. I have deleted these folders in order for PoE2 to download all the necessary Shaderfiles completely fresh. Try to avoid switching between the two rendering modes! So do not wonder if your game loads shaders right after starting up the game again. Let it finish that process. Updating Shader Cache limit I have an NVIDIA graphics card, so I'll outline how to update the shader limit for it. AMD users might need to do the equivalent using their own graphics card software. For NVIDIA cards, open the NVIDIA Control Panel (search for it in windows start button) and on the left, select the "Manage 3D Settings" section. Scroll down to the "Shader Cache size" and update it to 10 or even 100 GB. Mine was set to "driver standard" in the past. Update Windows Graphics Settings Search windows for "Graphics Settings" (click on windows button in the bottom left, type graphics settings). Under the "Graphics performance preference" section, set the "Choose an app to set preference" dropdown to "Desktop app". Click the "Browse" button and navigate to the PoE2 application (I did this for both PathOfExile.exe and PathOfExile_x64.exe). Once the app is added, it would say "Let windows decide" under it. Click the application to bring up a popup where you can set the Graphics preference. You should see an option for "High Performance" with your graphics card listed under it. Select this option. For instance, mine says "High performance" and "GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080" under it. You can also activate the "optimization for windowgames". I do play in borderless fullscreen to tab out fast on my 2nd monitor. Try activating/deactivating it and see if it changes your performance. Change your energy saving plan from 100% max usage to 99% max usage This was probably the biggest thing that helped me. On one hand i was getting anxiety from the fact that my CPU was heating up to 90-95 degrees celsius while playing juiced maps and on the other hand my fans where always toggling up to 100 % fan speed cause of the heat buildup. Type "energy saving plan" into the windows search bar. Go to "advanced energy settings". Open "Processor Power Management" and check if the maximum performance state of the processor is 100%. If it is => Just set it to 99% and try if it helps. This had NO negative sideeffects on my FPS (i locked them to 90 FPS anyway). My CPU now runs between 60-75 degrees celcius at all times, reducing my fanspeed/noise significantly and the gameplay feels alot more stable than before. Last but not least one of the biggest performancekillers in PoE 2 is the sound. Change your channel count to medium/low in sound options You should NOT run the game on high channel count if you are dealing with performance issues. Try setting it to medium or even low. Change globalchat/tradechat channels I have heard about switching the global and tradechannel a dozen of times now. From my understanding there is a textfile in the PoE 2 folder that saves every single message being sent in the chat. Even if you can't actively see the chat messages because you deactivated those channels in the "Chat hub" they are still being "processed" by your system. To fix this you can use the "/global" command in the ingamechat followed by a random 5-digit number. It may not exceed 65000 tho because apparently thats the max chat channels there are. You now joined a new Channel with way less or even no other people. Use the "/clear" command to delete the chat history. ----- I will test new solutions people comment under this thread and might add them to my original post to get as many tweaks, tips and tricks to boost performance on any System as possible. Please remember: These are things you can try and in no way guarantee that you will actually get the performance results you are hoping for. PoE 1 has always had performance issues in the past. PoE 2 is no different. I reckon it's not an easy task to figure out a fine balance to performance for all the million PC configurations out there. It's still Early Access and we shall hope for the best. Последняя редакция: Fumaaz0n#6344. Время: 11 сент. 2025 г., 20:57:11 Last bumped13 сент. 2025 г., 21:27:14

you forgot to mention deleting or renaming the \logs folder in game directory
also enable tripple buffering and probably disable dynamic culling otherwise i kind of agree |

" Thanks for your insight! I definitely do not have every single solutiuon out there that could help players for stable performance. So i appreciate you adding to the discussion :) Can you explain what renaming the "logs" folder does? Последняя редакция: Fumaaz0n#6344. Время: 9 сент. 2025 г., 13:11:32

A lot of technical work on a pc for an old person playing this game.

" Thanks :) ugh, its just that the game tracks everything in a single text file. Since everyone has a different computer, it just could cause an issue with constantly reading/writing to an unnessesarily big file. Have you heared about the trick with the chat channels? Apparently joining "unpopular chats" like /join global [5-digit-number] and /join trade [5-digit-number] followed by doing /clear -> exit -> getting rid of the logs folder seems to help in some cases. Idk if its the kind of drive people use - and its hard diagnose such problems. [drive latency is shown in the performance graph] I have noticed that i get +10-ish FPS when typing /clear when after being in a global chat for some hours [even with the chat hidden], so there definetly seems to be something to it Последняя редакция: noxxxus#0380. Slightly better but still dropping 30 fps when there is abyss mobs with everything in low.
I saw a post saying that updating is bios magicly makes his games run perfectly, i gues that's my last test to do when i can catch an usb for do it. Edit : without dynamic culling it seems to be stable o_O . I keep testing. Последняя редакция: MykroPsykoz#6286. Время: 9 сент. 2025 г., 13:42:57

" There is a reason why BIOS-update should always be the last thing to do when all else fails. If your PC runs fine just don't do it. There is no guarantee that a BIOS update wil lfix all your PoE related problems. And it can mess up your system badly if something fails. |

" Oh yes, i did see that video and i have also joined a Global and tradechat in the 5-digit channels. There is no sideeffect to it if you do not use global or trade anyway so turning it off this way is a good idea. I will add it. |

" I know, i know, but technically the only thing that can ruin a bios update is a power shutdown. You can't predict when this happen it would be very infortunate that happen. Anyway, without the dynamic culling and all the steps before, i lose only 9 - 10 fps when there is abyss monsters !!!!!! You deserve a medal guyz. I will spam this post in any thread about perf issue. Now i can even try to pump my graphics, i'm tired of low gaphics x) Последняя редакция: MykroPsykoz#6286. Время: 9 сент. 2025 г., 13:50:53

Actually,, you can do some things that affects the fps in a small way..
But the game is just very badly optimized at the moment. It is what it is. |
