My DW phys duelist just become even more powerful.
HP dropped from 4k to 3.5k and res to 77%. Got a 2k dps increase on DS and Cleave to compensate. My 17k base armor definitely feels very solid now. Not so sure about my EB ele cleaver. He got hit quite hard: Res from 85% to 81%. HP from 4.5k to 3.7k and -1k DPS and less mana from ES nerf - same mana regen though. Haven't done any content with him though, so that is still an open question. Mind that he was plenty plenty strong so I will not cry a river if he is actually weaker now. In general the (indirect) nerf to EB and BM was well warranted. But GGG should fix the real problem instead: Get a more sensible mana regen curve - so that EB or BM isn't mandatory for highly linked skills. Just make regen based on non-reservered HP/mana instead of max - and rebalance accordingly. How hard can it be? [Standard league - UTC +2]

The intent of the patch was not to make the game easier. Tough enemies are still tough.
The intent of the patch was to make the game less Path of Life Nodes, which I believe it's done successfully. That doesn't mean you don't need defense, however. What it means is that stacking life/ES blindly is less of a valid defense, and other aspects -- armour, evasion, blocking, killing things before they can kill you -- have become better defensive strategies. If the intent of the patch is to discourage Path of Life Nodes, then you reallocate all your points using precisely the Path of Life Nodes logic, and then you die... well, no shit. That's exactly what they just nerfed, genius. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. To me, this thread sums up as a bunch of guys that haven't figured out how to adjust to the new balance changes and whine/claim stupid things because of it.
The patch hasn't been out for a day and people already complain. Not that I expected anything different... |

The idea was to make melee more viable and this patch has not done that. Switching into more base armor/eva does not change the balance offset. Lowering HP has also nerfed life leech, making phys reflect and general sustainability that much worse. I mained a DW melee prior to this patch, but after feeling like my underpowered character has been nerfed, it's hard to still want to log in it. It seems that it's either Ele or bust with this game at this point.

Just played a bit, and I like the patch. I have ~ 800 life less, but damage mitigation feels like a solid thing now.
Especially the armor:damage reduction ratio seems to have improved. Getting some armor nodes might actually be more usefull than life nodes now. If I don't reply to a bid, or won a bid, contact me in game, or send me a PM!
