No sound since the patch
" An update: this workaround is still providing sound for me, but it also appears to be causing the game to crash periodically. I'm using the Xonar Essence STX sound card and I'm not getting sound either.

Make sure steam is running and then try to reload your game, it worked for me for some reason when nothing else did.

This fix worked for me:
In Desktop Sound - Playback (first tab) Enable the "Digital Output" (does not need to be set to default, I kept my Kraken 7.1 as default). For me it was named "Realtek Digital Output". Note: There are two things named this, the other one was called "Realtek Digital Output(optical)" which is not what I am talking about. Another detail, I also put in the "--softwareaudio" in the Launch Options for the game's Properties window. Good luck everyone. |

I have found with mine (onboard card) if I have google music playing first I will get no sound (no card found). If I close google music then open POE and wait for the rain at the login screen I can then re-open my music and all is good.

Having same issue but fter closing and opening teh game 10 times it finaly works, you cna see the diference in the loading time, if it goes "too" fast emans no sound, if it takes abit more i know gona have sound.

That worked for me with my Kraken Razer USB Headset
1. Right click the game in your library 2. Click on properties 3. In the general tab click "set launch options" 4. Add the --softwareaudio command in there |

razer 7.1 here aswell, out of 100 times, i had sound once and no fix provided here helped :(

Just jumped back into POE after over a year of not playing... just to find that my sound didn't work :p I have a USB Kraken 7.1 headset. None of the suggested fixes in any forum I found so far has helped EXCEPT for the .dll insertion solution link that is listed towards the beginning of this topic. I'm definitely not one for outside work-arounds, but this was the only way I was able to restore my sound. GGG really needs to put some calories into this as it damn near turned me away from getting back into this game again....
