No sound since the patch

I had the same problem after coming back to PoE from a long absence, using Kraken headphones. None of the solutions I found on the internet worked, though I did not try the OpenAL Soft thing. I could not figure out what to do with it. Found a solution that is working for me though.

Go to StartUp in msconfig (type "msconfig" in the search box from the start menu, select the option that appears, and choose the Startup tab). Disable everything related to the Kraken headphones from the startup menu (uncheck the boxes and select "apply"). Synapse and all files with Kraken in the name. Restart the computer and begin Path of Exile. The sound should work now, or at least it does in my case. The process is easy to reverse: when done playing Path of Exile, go back to the msconfig Startup tab, recheck the boxes, and restart the machine. Now everything is the same as before.

I do not know what is causing the problem as I am not tech-savvy enough for that. Presumably however the incompatibility involves the Kraken software that runs when the computer is started. When that software is prevented from running at startup, the Kraken headphones revert to blah-nothing-special-yaddayadda-headphones. Listen to music or other sound things with the software not running and I assume the Kraken sound features will not be there. The headphones become nothing more than a random pair of nothing-notable soundphones. But Path of Exile sound will play just as it does with regular non-Kraken devices. When you want the Kraken headphones to operate with their sound features, go back to Startup and set up the software to run. Restart the computer, the software initiates, and now the sound features are back again.

I also have this same problem with my Kracken 7.1 I just got yesterday, my other headset works. Please fix this GGG.

If you are running the client through steam, go to the .exe in the game folder within your steam directory, (Drive letter):\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Path of Exile, right click the PathofExile.exe, click on properties and check run as administrator. Do the same with the PathofExile.exe if you are running the straight client. (Drive Letter):\Program Files (x86)\Grinding Gears Games\Path of Exile.


This fixed my issue with PoE not detecting a sound driver. May not work for everyone but should help the gentleman that is using the Krakan 7.1. I am using the Man o War's myself and I believe they use the same driver.

Running as administrator fixed the issue for me.. Razer krakens chroma here!

give me back my sound (default Realtec integrated). Game sees this device but anyway no sound.
