Mercenary Companion
Adding Mercenary Companion for-hire in Path of Exile
I suggest adding something similar to Diablo 2 Mercenaries and companions in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Mercenaries in Path of Exile will be available for hire for a set amount of orbs (currency sink). New skins and voice for companions will be available in the store as a Micro-Transaction. The Mercenaries you hire will have the following characteristics: 1- They will do a small amount of damage so as not to unbalance the game. They may have one aura with reduced effectiveness. 2- The player will be able to equip his mercenary companion (with some mf gear for example)… thereby doubling the need for items which in turn would encourage the purchase of additional stash-tabs. 3- Mercenary companions will not follow you if the party is full. (similar to the way Companions work in Star Wars: The Old Republic) 4- Playing alongside a Mercenary companion is a nice alternative to players who get too much lag when playing with other players. So can we hope for Mercenary companions in the new League? Just think of the amount of Mercenary Skin Micro-Transactions you will get to sell GGG… Эта тема была автоматически архивирована. Not gonna happen, summon a guardian thats the only way to get something you can equip, or hire another player to do the dirty work for you.

" Thank you for your opinion but this suggestion is for GGG and the majority of the players who are capable of an intellectual discussion of pros and cons. Any fanboys who wanna throw a hissy fit at any proposed minor change and offer useless and asinine alternatives (like "hire another players") that add nothing new to the discussion then please find another post to troll. May I suggest using the search feature before making new threads? While it does have room for improvement, you may find the previous discussions on the topic quite interesting (and if I remember correctly, there is a GGG reply in there, somewhere). ;-) :-)

" Thank you Alysma... I know the idea of introducing mercenary companions is not new. I remember coming across a thread about Mercenaries a while back as well... This thread however is not about introducing the idea of Mercenaries, it is about finding ways to implement Mercenary Companions to Path of Exile that would be beneficial to the Path of Exile without upsetting the in-game balance (and also providing an extra source for revenue for the developers)... that's why I made a new thread for it. Hence in my OP I focus on how Mercenaries would be implemented and the benefits of doing so: 1- reduced damage effectiveness and reduced versatility, limited to one or zero aura. 2- reduced effectiveness of equipped items (on the plus side though, one can equip a companion to be an mf culler thereby eliminating the need for stupid and boring mf builds while not making mf gear obsolete) 3- Mercenary Companion Skins will be a huge source of revenue for GGG (only additional mercenary skins would be purchasable with real money, the mercenaries themselves would be hired by in-game currency.) Edit: Thanks for the link but that thread is quite different in its focus than this one. " But Animated Guardians weren't turned into "mercenaries"... as for the concern about upsetting the game balance, as I pointed out, Mercenaries would have very limited damage effectiveness and limited versatility in terms of skills they can use. Also since Mercenaries will be hired in town and attached to your character, the MTX attached to them will not get lost. Overall I think all the developers' concerns about implementing mercenaries seem to be dealt with. Последняя редакция: mouhanad#7735. Время: 5 июн. 2014 г., 14:24:30

" GGG doesnt want us to have mercs as they existed in D2, that trivialized content because you just gave it the best gear and then didnt do anything but watch it kill everything. Or do you want nerfed D3 mercs who only provide buffs? Thats not gonna happen either. |

" I made it clear in my original post that Mercenary Companions would be severely limited in terms of damage and versatility... they wouldn't benefit fully from equipped gear as they would have a penalty to "gear effectiveness". There would also be limited to the buffs they provide... and they might even be limited in terms of the skills they can use. They will never substitute or overpower a human player and they would not be able to handle content by themselves. If you don't like the idea of Mercenaries, that's perfectly fine... you don't have to use them, you can continue playing in groups of other players. But many player like to play solo, or they get a lot of lag while playing in a group... playing with your personal mercenary companion would be a fantastic addition for such players as it makes the experience feel much less solitary. Hope this clear things up. Последняя редакция: mouhanad#7735. Время: 5 июн. 2014 г., 15:45:51
