Hello Friends, How About PVP?
I started playing this game at the beginning of Tempest. I found Path of Exile (PoE) by googling 'action rpg with pvp like diablo.' I had stopped playing diablo3 because it was so bad, not just the servers but the pvp. I actually stopped playing it without ever having played it because of how bad it was, that's pretty bad if you think about it.
I had hoped to find that this game had not wasted its potential and neglected PVP. Let me tell you why you should do exactly what I tell you and I'll even give you reasons which in my opinion you should read after you do it. Reasons ======== __ More activity on non race leagues. This is obvious and top reason because it's the most significant. PVP provides a short term opportunity for players to participate in unique events with geared characters which do not take much time to complete each day, week, or month. __ All that P of E has to do to make a game instantly better than WOW's pvp ever can be is something in which they will never be able to do.... By not catering to players demands for class balances for pvp balances then the mechanics of the game itself will allow for a unique experience (next and final reason). Without full PVP sets and stat points like WOW'S resilience, players will have to balance their strengths and weaknesses. The only GGG side game development which pvp would require is that every class have a pvp counter. Some builds are naturally better at pvp while others better at pve. By ever class having a counter for every other class build, at least one, then the game is balanced enough for the purposes of a competitive ladder. I can argue you this point. Don't hurt yourself trying to comprehend an abstract concept. __ The unique experience of PVP in P of E would allow for a PVP race season with a secondary PVP race which is LESS DEMANDING on player time. Level brackets open up as a certain number of players reach that level bracket. While I respect you for trying do the Guild Wars (I think thats the right game?) pvp thing where your characters are already at the maximum level and its a pvp only game. BUT in my opinion this defeats the beauty of pvp in an RPG like poe which has different experiences from league to league/season to season ... unique leagues tournaments, pretty minor (I would imagine) overall content just different ways of organizing players to kill eachother instead of your computerized monsters... let me rephrase that other point again for GGG specifically so he understands how difficult this is for me to be respectful considering how old this game is and the lack of pvp it has :) ************************************************************************************************* Player versus Player (PvP) has minimal upkeep management; not catering to complaints about overpowered, unbalanced etc. The nuts and bolts of PvP is just a system .. where you come up with different stupid shit to encourage us to fight one another instead of your computerized monsters. Perhaps were molested by an mmo as a child, I do not know anything about you G. Only that this game has improved on every aspect of diablo 3 in an intelligent way, keeping players thinking and learning, well done. Why not steal what you can from the part of pvp mmo's do best... There aren't many but that's okay I'm going to have faith that I'll never hear from you, no one is going to reply or bump this post because you want this game to die. Think about the structure of this fucking game and how it makes no capitalistic sense, you create new god damn race leagues every fucking two months and next thing you know all the work you just did is pointless? So now I'm supposed to go play the game on single player over the internet because it's on internet servers but no one fucking plays it??? How long do you think the races will last??? Can't make pvp because you have to make new content every year which has to stay in constant development? Pvp in this game is a dick measuring contest. You wear better items? You are most likely to win. What is the incentive i have (mostly self found, non minmax) to play pvp with players wearing boots worth more than my entire stash?
Low level dueling was the supposed answer but it is the same story - only difference is the affix lvl cap. There is no fun in plating pvp as most matches are lost on loading screen. Why start something that wont succeed? As long as gear >>> skill the attractiveness of pvp (for me) is zero. And it seems that im not the only one judging by the pvp population. There is also another side of this story - some poeple play games to escape from social interaction. PvE allows that (except trading). PvP by the pure virtue does not. |

We are in the age of pvp games such as mobas, competitive shooters and rts and thus on. Nearly anyone but people already fans of PoE will play the pvp in this game.
PVP prioritizing something that that would hardly help their overall playerbase isn't just going to happen. They did alot of work on pvp in this game compared to release but it seems to be pretty pointless. |

Screw PvP in aRPGs! Especially in PoE. It hardly even qualifies as PvP, since it's gear versus gear rather than player versus player. Implementing it was a huge mistake and a waste of resources that could have been used to pay a new graphics programmer to optimize the graphics engine.
