Hello Friends, How About PVP?
So much wrong in this thread.
POE PVP is not unbalanced because of mirror or legacy, the reason PVP in unbalanced is because of skill gems. Some skills like incinerate+warp can make a caster win 70% of his fight without good items while a skill like fireball will need mirror level gear to be good. Cyclone is a loved 2h melee skills because you can move using it while other melee skills you are locked in place and get one shot by spells. Blocker can spend 20 ex in gear and facetank most builds! really a mirror 2h rt will have a pain even hurting you if you are blocker with non legacy items. TRAP! just one trap using crit and you 1 shot a 10k life user...for real. Traps are so broken in HLD pvp it s not funny. You don t need mirror gear to 1 shot everyone, just use trap and ignite/bleed and win. Finaly EA (explosive arrow) guys, just a 6l quill rain (15 ex)+EA+conc effect+fire peneration, lmp will make you win all duel. Look at top ladder! IT s not mirror users, it s not legacy users it s EXplosive arrow users, using regular gear just wallspamming and icewall spamming. YOU DON T NEED LEGACY/MIRROR ITEMS TO WIN IN PVP, JUST USE EXPLOSIVE ARROW OR OTHER UNBALANCED SKILLS. Want to troll? create a 3000 es regen build and none can kill you even those 1000 ex mirror builds. Also skill tree. Stop believing you can come from pve and win in pvp with your build made to kill atziri. For exemple endurance charge and armor is pretty useless in pvp for most 2h melee users and you are better of having just life even if you have 0 armor/evasion. Tornado shot? its good in pve but it is nerfed to death in pvp! PVP is so different that if you come in 1 vs 1 and think you can win using your pve build you will feel so stupid you will stop playing. Ps: YOU DON T NEED LEGACY/MIRROR ITEMS TO WIN IN PVP, JUST USE EXPLOSIVE ARROW OR OTHER UNBALANCED SKILLS and use a real pvp tree. Forum pvp Последняя редакция: lolozori#1147. der1ved, there have already been serious attempts to promote PoE's PvP. There has been a PvP expansion and even some race-style PvP events with big finals and hardware prizes. Problem is, while there seem to be some PvP enthusiasts, it failed to appeal to a bigger audience. Maybe GGG will give it another try at some point in the future, but don't hold your breath.

" There is a counter build for every build in the game and if there isn't then that could be tweaked. You say that they promoted pvp... You say that there were some cool race events, I call bullshit. From the first week I played this game I expected pvp to be relative but it was not. Not only has pvp never been relative in my albeit short time on this game but even the queue systems are ineffective at best. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ It's simple managerial mathematics and GGG is failing to do his job. You get a lot more hours of play by adding some simplistic pvp arenas which are functional. If no one plays it or you get outrageous queue times or you're matched up with heroes 30levels higher than you wtf is the point? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Seriously though, what does PofE have going for it in terms of pvp? The duel. I did a previous post about this. All we need is competitive dualing where players can wager stakes on the duel. *********ALL YOU NEED IS ONE EFFECTIVE PVP SEED TO REIGNITE DEVELOPENT********* ||||Wager duels, I call them the 'Duel Parlay' could be this seed|||| keep players running pvp on your game is not hard, it only takes simplistic changes to the game. You don't need to run unique events until you build up the pvp community... [[[Please don't give up on pvp or there will come a time that players who require a pvp component to maintain playability will no longer race nor play the game for any reason]]] battlefield 5 is going to be amazing, give me a reason to come back and play my heroes on this game because races obviously will never be that |

don't think PvP will ever appeal to a wide audience in PoE, for a couple reasons:
gear gap: if you have the gear, you will enjoy PvP. if you don't - you'll quit in frustration very quickly. and in gear I'm not only talking about items (especially x-linked items), but also gems. quality gems. corrupted gems... and surprisingly, low level PvP a.k.a LLD ("low level dueling") can be more gear-demanding than high level one. game stability: ping. FPS. loading times. these make a far bigger impact than they should, and they can make the fun just disappear in an instant. for example I managed to get enough points recently to be matched vs. some top-tier PvP player - and just as I was getting ready for a match of a lifetime... the game decided I had enough good time, and just ping-froze me. fun -> gone. trolls: some people fight seriously. others? they are here to annoy you. to run away and get a draw in every round. to face-tank you with ridiculous regen without landing a single hit, when they clearly can one-shot you with that Mirrored Gear and just end the match without torturing you. these and more, are why PvP will never be "mainstream" in my opinion. however, I found PvP in PoE to be extremely fun and surprisingly tactical when the conditions are right. something I really can't say about many other PvE games with PvP modes. Alva: I'm sweating like a hog in heat
Shadow: That was fun |

" changes during dynamic of a race league, there is more incentive to gear up early if winning pvp at beginning of a race; not a pvp specific race im talking about events within a race season I mentioned that they could be level restricted and they do not open to players until a certain number of players are within a 10level bracket 1-9, 10-19, etc for the beginning of a season This gives players who are quickly out of the running for winning the level 100 race an opportunity to race their character in another way. *************Low level pvp will be twinks on standard and hardcore... but at least it will exist *******High level pvp will be for the most geared of the geared to have something cool to do with their character for standrard and hardcore... but at least your level 100 doesnt need to be suicided (fucking idiots lol) I could write a 20page report on how pvp would be cumulatively beneficial to every aspect of this games design, effectively saving while becoming something wow could never be and Diablo 3 failed to be. For GGG contact me I will charge you money and write this for you or just fly me out and smoke weed. For everyone on this forum just keep posting reasonable replies like JohnK's and I will respond accordingly, effectively providing the report to GGG free of charge. Thanks, enjoy your ability to read, not everyone has that luxury. #freethetrolls ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ For your second and third points JohnKeys I have another proposition which isn't meant to be a solution but inspire more creative ideas for fixing this problem while simultaneously making this competitive game mode more dynamic. First of all, reduced graphics for pvp significantly, goes without saying... What WoW has going for it was the timing of abilities and basic functionality of hit system. While wow was rather balanced in some ways the 1v1 system was worthless for pvp and not included in arena. PofE would focus on 1v1 as it's the best aspect of PofE's player versus player system. ...for that matter, all party games should have graphic effects significantly reduced... besides the point ???????????????????????????? Why do you fear Trolls JohnK? ???????????????????????????? Here's an idea of a game dynamic which, although this is where you need masterminds (the kind that created dota) to make your pvp system into a competitively thought out mathetmatic pyramid.... for lack of a better explanation For example, Doedre... that fat bastard with the ground curses, something like this could change the area of a map which is abused by trolls, for example.. or an area which when stood in long enough gives you recharged potions ... or pvp specific shrines which spawn on opposite sides of the map, these are just thoughts off the top of my head but as JohnL said, imagine. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ |

I forgot PvP even exist in this game, considering how big of a failure the PvP-tournament was, literally just a dick-size contest, nothing else.

Im a pvp only player, and im known in standard pvp scene. We are a small clique who enjoy pvp a lot. Most of us have really good gear, and pvp players have very extended, wide knowledge about the game. A normal über farmer guy has very little knowledge compared to a decent pvp player. We ask each other, learn, think, duel with each and theorycraft new builds and always seeking to be better. We change / alter our builds very often, counter each others builds, and force each other to be better. Everybody knows their items, everybody helps each other. We are happy.
In Short, PoE community is full of casuals who cant handle pvp, they enjoy killing AI mobs and playing against AI more than real intelligent opponents. People still trying to be able to kill normal atziri. They hate pvp, they hate what pvp represents, they have a lot to blame about mechanics of the game. Cause they dont have enough currency or will to deal with those problems. People who can have good gear will join pvp scene. We are having newcomers, 1-2 per month and those newcomers makes us very happy. Nowadays since whispering ice is really strong, many whispering ice players have joined to standard pvp scene. That makes me happy. Anyone who wants to contact me, my in game name is NursewithoutWound "You have great power. You're right to be proud. It's unfortunate you have to die now, but I will honor you with 45% of my strength."

So how could PVP benefit the casual player, the top tier racer, the softcore/hardcore pvp guild PofE veteran who doesn't even have an interest in races anymore...
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& First off and this is worth mentioning again, pvp can evolve (not change, evolve) the dynamic of race seasons. Instead of just hardcore/softcore an additional pvp league could be included which is hardcore aswell... However, I think this system would be so effective as to be implemented into every hardcore/softcore league/race every season... _ Casual players who cannot commit eleventeen hours a day to racing can still compete (at least they have a chance in hell) in bracketed duel tournaments (10 level brackets always for all queing the que system needs help that goes without saying). For hardcore/softcore and older leagues brackets would be full of twinks and geared players... But for new race seasons it would give players an option to not race their hero through wraeclast but fight other players for rewards that top tier racers would not compete in suchas dueling level 20-30 for some sort of reward ... it's all hypothetical obviously and would need much brainstorming. Don't get stuck on the details the point is obvious much more competitive races within a single race season for pvp players who cannot play 24hrs a day _ Obviously, softcore/hardcore would have the most top tier level 90-100 activity with lots of gear. Currently, most players in PofE create hero builds online but never use about 25% of their builds for various reasons but mostly because there is no endgame content in hardcore/softcore for active players of race seasons to take a break from the race and play an older hero in a tournament, or fuck a tournament just a decent god damn place to pvp for fun... PVP only is a swell idea, but the dynamic would be stronger by throwing away that idea and building pvp into the basic dynamic of every race season giving pvp players and more casual players the opportunity to duel in 8 different level brackets 20-29 ... 90-100, these brackets will be full of fresh players in races while tweaks would dominate the hardcore/softcore leagues. |

In addition to my last reply I'd like to suggest you follow the lead Rift took with their wow based mmo and gave players the ability to gain experience through pvp. This aspect of rift imo was truly the strongest feature that the game brought to PVP in a game otherwise nearly identical to wow...
