If it doesn't fit you then don't enter there, simple as that. It's ladder who can invest lot of time and want to compete towards 40-60 points. It is meant for hardcore gamer so let them have their own fun. You can compete in 1-2hour race.

How about it is modified to be more suitable to a larger amount of players, just like the smaller races which give you rewards even if you are not competitive? Why is this any different, and why can't there be constructive criticism? "Suck it up!"
I have never fully participated in a race, the first 2 times i died and gave up XD

But i do have to say that it seems the prizes are a bit low and unmotivational, because i rather just play in the other leagues than join the race, it just dosent seem like any of the new racers or basically the newbies have a chance to win at all its obvious that most streamers and pro players would get ahead of them and they basically wouldnt win anything besides the "level" based rewards or "first to do etc."(mabe) but basically what im trying to say is that these races should be both newbies friendly and for pro players

though i think i will play this race, well not to race but just to treat is as a regular hardcore league and do the kripp challenge :p
Meh... I thought competing in this race, too, but seeing the not reachable prizes for a working, moderately skilled solo player - I don't think so.
Perhaps for fun, trying to participate in Kripps and Rhoxs melee competition.

Why are there no prizes for reaching certain levels? Even if it was 1 point for 40, 2 for 50 or something, you at least wouldn't invest so much time into nothing.
Admittedly, it stands to question how many people run in this and how far they get. Perhaps the 500 will lie in the 40s even...

What's the problem with having some bonus points atleast for something like:
lvl 50-60 range: 3 points - casuals should be happy as this is reachable for 20 hours(3hr/day)
Killing piety merciless: 5 points - that's for the more dedicated players.
Seriously give us ppl not playing for 12+hrs a day any ANY ANY reason to compete in this race.

You can get 39 points just from getting the minimum reward of 3 points in all the other events during the 1 week race. And that's a total of 30 hour time commitment. Less if you just get the minimum level bracket and quit. The only way you can get more points in the one week is by placing 1st or 2nd, and even then you'll have probably spend well over 120 hours. Judging by past 1 week competitions that is, I'm guessing this race won't be very competitive. Epeen stroking only.
"'What is this thing, anyway?' said the Dean, inspecting the implement in his hands.
'It's called a shovel', said the Senior Wrangler. 'I've seen the gardeners use them. You stick the sharp end in the ground. Then it gets a bit technical.'" -Terry Pratchett, Reaper Man
The current race rewards system is a huge step backward. No incentive for casuals to play, minimal chance at anything good for those who arent top racers and the excitement of improving your main characters via race skills/luck (orb rewards) is totally gone.

I used to stretch my schedule to accomodate races, now if a race will cost me a bit of sleep or interrupt some other activity i cant be bothered. And im one of those very few who actually have a good chance at regular #1 finishes! No need to wonder how those who dont have a good chance at regular #1 finishes feel if youve been following this thread.

The rewards for this 1 week race make me very very sad. You've taken one of the coolest things about PoE and drastically altered it for no apparent reason. What was the point in recalibrating the Orb rewards during Closed Beta if you were just going to throw those rewards out the window in Open Beta?

Im wondering the same thing. A year of race data available, yet you need last minute calibration test runs to decide prize thresholds, then you remove all the prizes? What.

Chris, I hate to say it but I can't believe how terrible these rewards are...

I'd play races for 0 points if my connection allowed for it.

Not disagreeing with anyone about the prizes being mediocre, just saying.

What is with all the complaining about rewards? Rewards aren't the only reason you race, you get to play in a completely new league, there is nothing there. A fresh economy and fresh characters. Get to try new builds and level a character that you were planning but didn't want to level because it's boring 1 shotting everything because you're rich in permanent leagues. And if you are good enough you get to win prizes too? Sign me up. If you don't like it then just don't sign up... a weird concept right?
+1 for being so completely underwhelmed by the reward structure for a WEEK LONG race.
