HP in POE is what IAS was to D3?
HP stacking in HC league is the effect of the league format, wherein you cannot die, not even once. You want your HP to be astronomical, because you want to stay in HC.
If there was a league where mobs always have life regen, 50% more hp, but has 50% less damage, players would stack damage instead. If you stack HP, you wouldn't be able to kill a white necromancer... I stacked life and crit in D3, because I use strafe. I need more purple titles

" If you cannot understand this quote, then I think you need to reassess your methodology. Please do yourself a favour and review some of the builds done by top players. More specifically, review their thought process and how they update their builds. You will be mildly surprised to find that many of the recent updates done by these players involve removing +%life nodes from their build and placing them elsewhere. Why? Because they are comfortable with their current mitigation and survivability enough to divest out of it and into offence. |

Weapon Elemental Damage nodes are so concentrated and powerful on the tree, and available on so many gear slots, that there's no need to get any other offense. When you're at +120% W. In most games a balanced build means... a balanced build! Not really high defence and low damage.(Tanks) Not really high offence and low survivability.(Pure dps/glasscannons) They got equal offence and defence. (Defencive dps) Is that so hard to understand? Also,for the elemental damage arguement. If got a low chance of dying with your current gear, what stops you from getting more damage from your passives? Because someone prefers to never remove any health and reach 10k life and remain in the same damage range,doesn't mean i can't reduce my life at 9.5k and get some more damage. Show me someone who manages to play with +100% Life or lower without energy shield to compensate, and I'll maybe consider your argument. There is no such thing as a glass cannon in this game. There is no such thing as a "balanced" damage/defense build. EVERY build goes tank with +Life on every piece of gear and the majority of their passives into life and/or energy shield. You're completely missing the OP's point. It should be possible to survive by maxing out your evasion or armour instead of life. It should be possible to max out offense instead of defense and survive with defensive skills. Those things are simply not possible in this game. "The fact that you get so little from them? With +200% W. Ele Damage, which can be reached with just six points, further passives are diluted threefold. A +10% Damage mod is only worth +3.3% of your overall damage. I'll give 2 easy accessable players.
Kripparian and nugigen. Kripparian got 9k life and said he builded a tank. His previous character,the "wander" got 5k life. Do you see a difference in life stacking?Watch 1 video of him doing maps with the tank and 1 with the "wander". Do you see a difference in damage? Nugi got a ranger with 5.7k life. Do you see a difference between kripparian's tank life and nugi's ranger life? Let's return to kripparian and his wander. He got MANY damage node. To boost his wand damage. How did he manage to get high level and do that insane amount of damage? Who told you that the maximum life is 5k? Kripparian's tank got 9k. So 5k is not the max amount of life you can get. Take those 3 builds and see the differences. About the elemental damage ,No. That doesn't stop me to remove a 8% life multiplier to get a 12% damage node. I will still got enough life and more damage. Also try to understand the difference between damage mitigation and health pool. You can stack armor and resistances and get less hp. Yes, and right now it's not; this is the exact reason why some fixing (nerfling life nodes and/or buffing defenses) is in order. Should stacking defenses be as effective as stacking life? It doesn't matter; mindlessly stacking any one thing at the exclusion of everything else should lead to a less effective build, so as long as armour+life build is more effective than both pure life and pure armour build, I don't care how pure armour and pure life compare. The way I look at things, people who champion pure defense builds while harshly criticizing pure life builds reek of hypocrisy. 2) It already is possible to do this. I've seen YouTube videos of people crazy enough to take both Eldritch Battery and Chaos Inoculation. These people then try to kill mobs. And they succeed. Good build? Probably not. But the point is that the defensive skills are already there and glass cannon is already possible. Glass cannon may be possible, but is in optimal? No. Does it compare well to lifestacking? No. Is this a good thing? Yes. If skipping defensive nodes is just as viable as not taking defensive nodes, people won't. Period. Upping killspeed leads to more effective farming, and it's only by making survival nodes actually better that they will ever be taken. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero.
