'Legacy' items policy, re:patch 0.10.5
" Your post is laughable. They have very little or zero experience in game developnemt and they experience in HnS genre is on the same level or (in some cases) on lower level than experience of many posters here. They are just Diablo 2 players like we all - not some HnS gods lol. They are not Blizzard North, they are not Sheafer Bros, they are no Brevik, They are not Iron Lore... not yet. They time may come.. if they will listen to the fanbase. I for example played THOUSANDS hours of D2LOD and i create little/minor mods for D2LOD (for personal and friends use) when i was 16. I bet that my 'competences' in HnS design are equal or higher than half od GGG. And i bet that half of the forums is on the same level or even higher. NOt even mention ppl like Brother Laz that have more experience than whole GGG alltogether. Also most developers dont play games they create very much. So trust me - hardcore player is very reliable source of ideas/feedback. You know when good games are made? When developers listens to playerbase. GGG fails at this recenlty (preety change from CB imho) and they make weird changes or no changes at all. Its also preety funny that they play D2 so hardcore and so long and they make exacly the same mistakes... :/ OT: Legacy items is very bad idea. I hope they will listem to community in important cases (this is one of them). Последняя редакция: KarraKurri#7943. Время: 5 апр. 2013 г., 19:19:55

I think the Silverbranch nerf is a bad idea to begin with, but legacy items are a ridiculously terrible precedent to set.
Demigod's are fine, because they're not really that great as items. They are status symbols, nothing more, and the way you acquire them is fundamentally different from all other items in the game. Part of the appeal of this game is that anyone can find the best items in the game if the RNG smiles on them. If there are super elite items that new players can never get except through trade, that will really hurt the game. This one item might not have a huge effect on the larger economy, but if this becomes a common way that item rebalancing is handled, it could be really ugly. If Silverbranch existing in its current form is bad for the game, the change should be retroactive. If Silverbranch existing in its current form is not bad for the game, then nerfing a popular item for no good reason is stupid. |

" It's called recognizing you are talking to a brick wall of total obliviousness before you even start. It's taken me a long time and a lot of internet experience, but I'm finally starting to catch myself in time. I still get tricked into it sometimes but not nearly as much as I used to. I would love to have a reasonable discussion with you but that is impossible if both of us aren't capable of offering and considering reason. (you can pretend it's me that can't if that makes you feel better!) Have a good day. " ... to let them know the game isn’t going to be very fair from here on out."

Adding support for the non qq side, awesome work GGG in not fracking up peoples hard earned items.
Also all of those whining and pointing out that they can buff all Volls so nerfing all Sillverbranches should be just as simple, do read the post earlier in the thread explaining the fundemental difference between the 2 changes Vols is mechanics change whereass Branch is a change to the numeric values the item can roll when it drops or is divined. Don't have legacy items, especially with mounts and flying mounts!

" does this on the flip side mean there could be a "old version" item that is more powerful than the newer nerfed one? Последняя редакция: zzang#1847. Время: 5 апр. 2013 г., 20:44:58

Its exacly what the plan to do..
iomagine with all imbalance in game atm... i bet there will be hundreds of changes to items... and with release of new support gems even more (bacause unique will super OP with new gem) in year or two each unique will have two legacy versions? Its just ridicolous. And its only Silverbranch.. there are far more imbalanced and OP uniques in game.. some (like Kaoms chest are gamebreaking tbh). And if you CANT change existing (already dropped/aquired) item stat how you CAN change existing already dropped/aquired GEM stats? Its an item too in game. I simply dont believe that you have that small control in your onw databases that you CANT change items retroactive. I just dont believe. Especially when the game is 100% online. in online game developers can do ANYTHING with characters and items. Unless you ahve really shity/old tech. and i mean REALLY... SHITTY. Maybe we can have legacy gems too? Oh man! It will be so fun! LEgacy items are rly bad idea. It rly sucks if you dont have tech to do thi in other way. If you have and its your descision to do this in that way its worst decision ever. Последняя редакция: KarraKurri#7943. Время: 5 апр. 2013 г., 21:00:10
